While I am English mostly

I am part American. I can honestly say this

If McCain gets in, Ill be inclined to never mention to anyone ever again that I have American heritage. I would be worried about the judgment people would make, probably with valid reasons also.

All I heard from McCain is about picking up your guns and go fighting etc.. WTF whose the terrorists here? Its that attitude that caused the problems in the first place.

I have also heard interviews and people say

"Im voting for McCain as he is the only true American"

It worries me, this level of ignornace has caused the bad image. Picking up your guns isnt the way forward et al

Obama is the man who seems to have the character to fix this..

We wait and see.

Seriously

Dont sit on the fence Id rather you said what you think!!!

Ill Be honest I do much prefer Obama also.. McCain just seems to be all whats went wrong over the last 10 years into one package.

I do hope Obama gets in but whether he does what he says is another thing.. he could fall flat on his face and not achieve all he promises..

Mind you rather him that “lets go get me a fight” McCain

I hear Obama is not a big fan of guns?? Doubt he will, but he should ban them..

You hear of 18 year olds with guns I even spoke to a few KR members who have multiple guns and carry one around and a knife..

Understand about protection but... its uncivilised society that’s caused that.

I just started my support for Obama, and why I feel he is a new direction as Rav says healing..

If you expected to not hear peoples opnions on this... Then your mistaken.. In fact I find yoru comments utterly bizzare.. Although KR tradition is to persecute me when I make a comment or even try to help on a PC question.

Anyway I am glad Obama won, US can hopefully become a much stringer and more likable place.

Give Obama time, no doubt you've heard many many lies about him and have a skewed perspective of him as a candidate.

Lets watch him in action a bit and then see how it goes.

Glad to hear Obama got it. If he's about to do what he promised, USA is about to become a better place =)

I didn't like either of them, to be honest.
But I was definitely leaning toward Obama. His speech last night was actually really inspiring, and that's saying something cuz I've never been inspired by something someones said about our country in a while.

I am also quite glad that Obama won...I think that he was what the country needed at this particular time in its existence: a fresh start. Hopefully, all goes well :)

Oh man I stayed up really late just to watch the elections, it was worth it all though :D when I saw that Obama won I was very ecstatic.

I'm very hopeful that Obama will lead us on the right path and give health care to my mom who really needs it badly. Also I'm hoping that he'd help us middle-class Americans, we've been pretty poor since Bush became president, not trying to back-talk him or anything.

But yea, that's why I'm glad he won ^^

I think its the right choice.

Not knowing much about the policies admitedly in depth of achievement.. Although I think the general out put of what they believed in and where they wanted to go would ahve been enough for me..

Obama deserved a chance, what he says he wants to do is where I think most places around the world think America needs to be.

Like it or not America has gone down in alot of the worlds disposition..THis isnt individuals fault but the leaders and its support. I must admit looking at that McCain thread it is a shame to see that there are probably so many deluded people out there which are tainting things..

Here in the UK we and US hold a special relationship. I think Obama will be very welcome and will have our full support.

He is a fresh attitude, I think everyone should trust the guy run with him and see what he does..

Not that of course I believe anyone here to be like a war monger over zealous religous how could a black man be allowed by gods will type.

Just for info, what are Obamas sort of run down of all he wants to do in sort of detail. His policies etc..

Basically he wants to "fix" everything that's been broken.

Obama has made A LOT of promises. Most of which, as he admits, are unlikely to be completed in 4 years. And there will also be, as he says, mistakes along the way.

I don't know where to begin. This is kind of a far reaching topic. I will just touch on some basics.

For one he is for more government regulation (which I think is a good thing as it sets standards)

He is for big government - more national laws, as opposed to small government - more state laws (which can be good and bad pending on how one uses it.)

Health care for all/more

Lower taxes for the poor and middle class, higher taxes for the wealthy.

More diplomacy in foreign policy.

He wants to improve our infrastructures as in better/new/improved roads, bridges, schools, hospitals, whathaveyou.

I'm just going to stop here because this is starting to sound kind of corny

Thats interesting is he talking about a national health service similar to what we have over here. Where basically everyone is entitled to free health service (although of course it does come from somewhere each tax payer we have something called national insurance which is like 2% this pays for all police, ambulance and fire services you get used it)

 #43589  by RaVeN

I would love Universal Health Care! OMG!

...but no, not yet at least. Obama is offering the national health care program to all Americans (the same program that Obama and his fellow Senators (including McCain) and other government officials have)

Which I will be signing up for :) It will be cheap too since some of the price tag is taken care of by your taxes.

It's a start toward universal health care, but it's not quite there yet.

Im 18 but not stupid... iv watched both sides of the stupid during this election and im pretty sure i know whats lies and whats truth to an extent lol... Not to mention as the long line of history goes with black ppl MLK and others i feel obamas gunna be in that list of "assassination"....

the ONLY reason why McCain didnt get voted in was cause of stupid bimbo backup who made it very obvious she was stupid. (tbh it was like she wanted ppl to think that or something) I would have rather had clinton in this, she would have been best i belive.

Not to poke at you Kakashi, really I'm not.

But the number one reason why voters said they weren't voting for McCain was the economy, I think it was something like 60-70% of voters.

I agree with you, the choice of Palin was a disgrace to both Democrats and Republicans alike, as well as America in general.

But I think the economy out ruled Palin in this case.

Really though, as a side note, I'm kinda surprised that right wingers are surprised they lost this election.

It was the most perfect storm for the Dems when you take everything together. The current president, the war, the economy...all of it.

This is when you know you're out of touch when you don't even see the storm coming.

and that's why they lost.
