Mum keeps telling me about the printer so I figure I ask here if just to get her off my back

Basically the printer is throwing random dots along one side of the page as it prints but not on every page I think, its not a particulary new printer so quite honestly I just told her its probably past its sell by date and wants replacing, anyone had this problem with theirs or know if there is a setting we need to change?

Might just be dirty heads in the unit, you can sometimes run maintenance on them.

Is it cheap replica cartidges? they always bugger them up.

If it's not really old there should be a clean heads button so try pressing that. Other than that though, I can't be of much use...
