lol not clicking..just where the mouse is.

in that case it looks corrupt. And a reinstall would do it some good. If you have reinstalled then take out off all your added-in files (files you've downloaded)

If it doesnt work after that then we will go from there.

 #37460  by Stealth

which was months ago lol

You could try and change the screen resolution in the options->video menu.

Try moving the jampconfig.cfg file from out of "C:\Program Files\LucasArts\Star Wars Jedi Knight Jedi Academy\GameData\Base\" and "C:\Program Files\LucasArts\Star Wars Jedi Knight Jedi Academy\GameData\japlus\" folders.
Don't delete them, either rename them, like jampconfig.old or something, or move them to another folder altogether.
This will also clear your binds.
Also, if you have made your own backup .cfg's by using the /write command in the console, they may share the corruption, so don't /exec them.
This is in the optomistic hope that it is only a faulty r_ settings, as it may well be.

few things

1) check media is intact

2) check your installation build is okay what I mean by that is when yo install make sure you delete all old folders ect make sure its a complete clean install

3) if not check your video drivers

4) If all those done, does it appear on anything else?

5) go start run, dxdiag run that test

 #37495  by Stealth

lol flap...that was my thinking..but didnt work
thanks jawfin for trying..but again no..
melissa...i may just be blanking i dont know..but i did dxdiag..and it found something that is running slow or something...

"The File d3d9d.dll is a debug version, which will run slower than the retail verson"

now what does that mean? lol

could that be the problemo?

 #37497  by Melissa

You could try replacing it!!

http://www.driverskit.com/dll/d3d9.dll/489.html

sounds like something to do with direct X 9 though!!

 #37499  by Stealth

Hmmm.
nope lol that didnt work..
but for a second there i got excited...
thanks!

Did you try Melissa's point 3 : "if not check your video drivers"; if the people repairing the computer updated the driver that can cause it.
Test this by Right click My Computer/Properties/Hardware tab/Device Manager button/Display adapters/double click your driver/Driver tab: if the rollback button can be clicked then at some stage the drivers were updated, and thus check the current Driver Date.
If you want to try the Rollback button, then set a System Restore point before you do it.

 #37509  by Stealth

you mean...go to a earlier driver?

 #37514  by jawfin

Yes, sometimes a newer driver on an older game can cause headaches. So using the older driver can help. Google your card's name with 'driver' and 'problem' w/e and see if others have had similar hassles.

 #37517  by Stealth

hmmm hate to shoot everything down...
but that didnt work..
i went back a couple drivers actually..each one i tried to start the game..
but it didnt work on any of them

 #37519  by jawfin

OK, last suggestion, not really a fix though; try running the game in a window if you haven't already. In game Setup/Video/Full Screen=Off
And try getting the files Rav posted if you haven't yet.

 #37534  by Stealth

tried that too...
i tried that before i posted about this...
hmmmm
and i didnt get the files rav posted
lol soooo.
so anyone else wanna take a crack at this problem?

 #37545  by Melissa

Yeah Ill have another stab

if not ill have to escalate it to chantelle

right a few questions first

what is the model and make of the graphics card (you can get this from the device manager which you went to earlier on)

Does this appear in any other game?

Do you get lines , distortion (artifacting) on other games OR also in your normal desktop?

ATI ALL-IN-WONDER 9700 series

happened in soldier of fortune.

download and install the latest catalyst & driver here, that works fine on JA

http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_catal ... radeonx-xp

This is an XP driver by the way

Do you ever get draw problems on your normal desktop..?

Try another game see if you get teh same results on everything.

I think there is a "chance" your GPU has burnt out should none of this work.

hmm looks like artifacts to me tbh, Last time i had artifcats it was because of a overheating issue and some serious BIO's setting problems. But they look like very "Organised" artifacts to me.

Does this happen as soon as you open JA ? And any otehr game liek mel said there. If it happens with other games then tis the graphics card issue. But if it only happens with JA then its a software issue. But when trying with other games make sure you stick at the game for a good 10-15minutes cause in some cases it takes a while to overheat etc. Plus your card is a tad old. Just try whats been said m8, if not then we can go from there but tbh. It may boil down to your card hopefully, and i say hopefully because then we dont have to go through the whole software side..which can be a pain. Settigns here..settigns there.. ugh.

Soldier of fortune it happened on ? Iam going to lean towards hardware problem then.. If you got a good head on you open the case and see if the card is plugged in correctly..

Also download everest home edition. And check the graphics card temps when tis under heavy load.. that can give you some indication of what the problem is. If it goes above the 60 mark then its going to artifact.

http://majorgeeks.com/download4181.html << get that bud.

***CLICK THE PIC PLEASE***

Thats how you get to the temp settings inside everest.

Id follow these last ones see if you get this on most games

For me your first shot looks like serious artifacting..

While this could be a result of overheating, its likeley also to be damaging to the card.

Driver may help but my intial thoughts are your hard is on the way out.

You could remove the card and try extracting any dust of build up which is defficienting your cards cooling system.

Then use a utility liek Squall has shown to look for temps

IDLE you will exepct to see 30-50ºC

Load 50-70ºC

anything above 70 is high although some GPUs run okay around the 80s I wouldnt reccommend it.

You might start to see this artifacting on your normal image despite 3D graphics.
