anyone know a better/compatible graphics card for this computer stuff?


Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition (5.1, Build 2600)

Processor: Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU 2.00GHz, ~2.0GHz

and current graphics card : Intel(R) 82845G/GL Graphics Controller

if it helps its like a 2002 hp pavilion computer.

We'll either need to know the motherboard details or the model number of the computer, without them we have no indication towards which graphics card will be compatiable.

Also from my own experience HP computers aren't that good when it comes to upgrading. Also "graphics" card you have listed is an onboard card and its whats known as "intergrated graphics".

to be honest your whole PC is old spec

a new graphics card wouldnt even get into 2nd gear and you utilize 10% in your PC, thats if you have an AGP slot

well any suggestions i just want like a 300-450 dollar one. nothing fancy just better graphics than what i have right now

your going to as said specify your motherboard

there is a possibility your motheboard may not have a slot for a graphics card.

I dunno what prices are like in US but id save up an extra $100 maybe $200

then you could grab a duo core , motherboard 2GB 500GB drive (mayb less) you could knock together a pretty reasonable system

say $150 processor
$100 board
$100 RAM
drive $80

guessing prices btw

then you get say 8800GT pretty good price now

Its not cutting edge but its a pretty good system and a million light years better than what you got which not only is pushing 7 years maybe 8 spec wise but it was also a budget system (celeron)

Dunno about you guys but i wouldn't be able to get a half decent computer for anything less then 1000 euro.

difficult to compare since the the euro changes all to the pound
I could get a half decent PC for around £5-600 id say easily, not cutting edge but sound , without graphics card if it was home pc no need for gaming then £400

thing is that also has an integrated graphics card which is naff
you could minus the monitor and upgrade the graphics card

also for the extra $30 get home premium its soooo much better than vista basic..

If you know someone who can build you a PC youd get it even cheaper...

edit the 530 you can have an ATI card built into price its a HD 2400 PRO

not cutting edge but its alot better than what you have..

8600 nvidia might be worth the extra $40 on top of teh $520 though

I built my computer for like $550, and it runs fine. I can play most new games maxed out.

If you really want a good computer for cheap, build it yourself. It's not very hard (all you really need to do it is a guide), and it's easy to do. You also have your own computer that you built, so you know what everything is in case you need to upgrade.

Crysis is ahead of the game in regards to the demand it puts on hardware. We have the game running at work on full settings and it's no where near as good graphics as everyone makes it out to be.

you must have an absolute beast to get very high on everything high res fsaa x 4 + etc.. even then I bet you dont get good FPS.

wasnt suggesting it was teh best but it seems to causealot of hardware strain..

Its mainly down to the engine of what it does with the detail. the whole package I have yet to see a game come close to it.

PS3 or Xbox could forget trying to run it even close to what it could without castrating it

The PC i'm talking about runs it at around 22 - 23 fps on average (Highest settings). Which is certainly playable to any level. But even then thats running on an 8800gtx card and pushing it to its limits.

The point of my above post was just to point out the fact that Crysis is ahead of the game in regards to resource requirements. No average PC has a chance in hell at running it with anything above medium settings. The developers however are paying the price for their mistake. All you have to do is look at the amount of people that have returned the game because their computers just can't run it.

Just seems stupid from a developers point of view in my opinion ^_^

I dont disagree at all it was badly made rather than making max use of the hardware
and to further prove the point, I dont think the 8800gtx woudl be able to run it on full settings

you will have probably high only and at high re you will need to drop off the FSAA.. in DX10 I know this as I played it with a 9800GTX

only the 9800 GX2 and ATI 3870 X2 would be able to muscle it, and considering their prices!!!


yet games like COD4 have good graphics (not as good by a little ditance) yet run flawlessly, although saying that I dont like it as much

I get teh feeling Crysis has been made shoddingly

yes and no, he could be looking to play crysis if he was looking for a new card.. which case he coudl do with forking out a bit more, difficult you see if he spends less now , he will be looking to upgrade in a lesser time... swings roundabouts eh.. thats technology for you.

maybe he should specfy what games he wants to play.. then a better evaluation of a budget could be determined
