No offense, Sparky, but if you were in Scythe's shoes you'd probably be trying to Jedi Academy working in whatever means necessary - which includes making posts that not everyone feels like reading. Besides, you don't HAVE to read his request, it's entirely optional.

......... wow thanks for spamming the topic... but i make this public because 1, i dunno how often chan gets on kr forums anyways, and 2. If not chan maybe someone else has an idea, so don't POST unless you HAVE AN IDEA. and as far as being an OLD TOPIC, the last one was about ports, not network packet shapers, network packet shapers at the time was not well known problem and wasn't assumed at the time.

and words in caps are not meant to be exemplified as yelling, but point out key words.....maybe some yelling depending on the statement....

Scy i might have an idea....Go to the place that set up the blockers to your school..Yell at him to change it...Call make a new plan at the school so that u have a diffrent connection..and anyone that gets in your way is expendable...LOL

they will not change it for anyone, they are getting rid of many things they do not want anymore. Right now they are going through gaming, soon they shall eliminate all file sharing. The only option i have left is getting past it somehow or tricking it. As far as a new connection goes, they already have an amazing connection that they want to limit. They will not get another just for the sake of allowing what they limit now.

*edit* also if there is no way chan, do u recommend just trying to get a wireless card and get the nearest wireless connection (not the campus' they can most likely control that too)

shes just got some mad qualification MCSA system adminsistrator + messaging whatever that is but she as far as i know is taking a few days R&R since shes been a study freak for a few days with this exam

Im studying IT at college so i might be able to help dont get me wrong nothing to the level of my sister but i might be able to help

now as i understand it ur trying to use Jedi academy at school?

If I recall correctly they migt be using not only 1 but 2 firewalls and using not only an internal network but a permieter one and I dont think it matters what o/s you use you still need the right authentication come through.

I dont know much about the details on that ull have to ask chan specifically but unless u have access to administering these then regardless of the conreol over your computer its irrelevant since the access problem does not occur on your machine but the Gateway.

nah, packet shaper is a program that tells what things are instead of just an ip, like when i go to play a game, it recognizes that it is so, and the shaper can limit its bandwidth to whatever it pleases. I know one game gets past it right now and i am trying to figure out how it does so... it seems to load up the game just as jka does but still gets by.... just tell chan to look at the forums pls ^^

well that may be so but do remember a game will have specific ports and stuff..

so maybe ur IT guys have either missed something ot let something thru

u see im just thinking unless u can dictate what goes in and what goes out u cannot do anythin

i mean they might not even use TCP/IP addresses at your school for all u know internally they might use frame relay IPX/SPX

I just started a networking course so dont expect me to fully understand what i just said :oops@

I dont think i explained everything to her right she said gaining or trying to get control over your individual computer isnt going to make a difference as the scope of your network lies within your domain

your gateway is your point that needs administration to allow whatever you need through.

I think the bottom line is from your own computer your not going to get far in ways or tryiong to get past the company security (unless they are lax)

you know from all the time, u spent giving responses, u could give better responses if u read a bit about network packet shapers, there are plenty of things about it online, and even a flash video explaining what they are.

remember i only spoke to my sister face to face and she was preoccupied and its hard for me to speak this entire forum back to her especially since neither me or her had a computer at the time

ill look for network packet shapers if u want dont get me wron ill probabaly have no idea what they are cos i dunno but with my limited experience i might have been able to help..
