We have a Mac at work.. and boy its nothing but trouble

Basically I have heard from the grapevine that Leopard is a trouble maker.

I cannot account the verisimilitude of what this statement is.. But I understand it is the latest equivalent version of the Operating System.

My Place doesnt have a full time IT place we have an external one for major things.. They are simply not interested in having anything to do with Macintosh computers in the network so I am alone on this.

Since I am not tech, but I want this Computer running as I have a trainee at work who I think can benefit from it, as we are using photography adobe etc , we have that full suite for it.

Anyway cut a long storey short can you take it off without having to wipe it etc,

I apologise I am not that adverse to using Macintosh Computers much, but this is crashing and bombing out like hell at the minute. Completeley unstable.

Also anyone got any idea how to share this files on a company domain network..

I am not that tech , I know a fair good amount but I am not any IT specilist.

I am posting this on a few fora so forgive me If I get cross ref'ed

i think u can stick in a 10.4 tiger disk in it and maybe overwrite leopard, but im not a mac person either, so idk

I think I might just sack it

From What I heard on computer forums Macs trying to work properly on a Windows network is a nightmare, and since I am not tech. Although that said my external contratcors wont touch Mac, they refuse to support it as its not scailible enough so Id have to be on m own..

Given the fact it doesnt actually work very well I think I shall persue another avenue

I am probably better off givng her a desktop PC and aquiring the adobe software to suit?

Thanks for your help.

What sort is it? if its one of those ugly IMac things you could stick it in yoru car and get Chan to look at it?

Im sure she added some macs to network but although documentation says so Macs dont work well with active directory

Given the problems your having its not worth messing about with, if you have available desktop just get the software for it and use that. No real advantage to using either for adobe stuff nower days just whatever suits.

This might help you.

Thanks for that

Hmm looks like its going to be a major head ache for me.. I am not that advanced and I think you'd need a proper IT Administrator for this.. I could ask Chantelle to look into it but its not fsair plus she has her own Job. Plus wont be available to do it..

Of course getting it on is the lesser of the problems.. The system stability is horriffic which suprises me to be honest. I always thought it was suppose to me the other way around.

Im sure its an expensive bit of kit but its going in the skip if it keeps up

Its just not worth it

i have a network with both macs and pcs, its run thru this computer, the desktop. the wireless router is an apple airport extreme, which is actually pretty sweet. its a strong signal and both the dell laptop and the mac ibook can connect to it in seconds

if you really want both on ur network, go airport, theyre quite nice

You totally mis understood him lol

its not home networking which I am sure they are fine with

It is at his work.. He is managing a project and has a Mac to assign to.. but business network solutions are a total differnt ball game.. Macs dont do a tidy job of binding to active directory.

Just incase anyone cared or has a similar issue,

Someone here did that bootcamp thing or whatever it is and stuck XP on it

It works liek a dream now... might even have it myself rather than use a laptop dock

Thats their perogative.. had some bloody Apple religious type in the office all pretentious about it.. I told him well if it was so good iwth their own thing why could he himself get it to work or to join the network..

Xp is doing the job niceley, and its a nice peice of kit.. it does the job..leopard or panda didnt.. end of
