Here I copied handy tutorial made by RAVEN:
So here is a PhotoShop CS Tutorial that anyone can follow (version 1.4)
I tried to make it easy enough for anyone (like a PS noob or whoever ^^) to follow.
Things you will need:
Brushes that I mainly use: http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/17112056/
A great place to get Renders (or the pic(s) you will be using): http://www.render-world.com/gallery/ Save all Renders in you’re My Picture folder.
Load the brushes by dropping the .abr file to PhotoShop > Presets > Brushes folder.
Let’s begin ^^ (follow the Red Rectangle Markers for guidance)
Click File > New.
A window will pop up. Make the adjustments like I have and give it a name like “name”siggy. For the KR forums make sure that the width is no more than 400 as that is the limits. Press OK.
Ok now u got your canvas that will soon be your new siggy!
Go to your tool bar on the left side of the screen. Looks like this
See the 2 squares? Change the one on top to black by clicking on it, and the one on the bottom to white. Nothing will happen yet don’t worry.
Now go to Filter > Render > Clouds and click it
!!! cool huh?!
OK now we need some layers to work on! Go to Layer > New > Layer. Do this 2 times total for now.
Select your Layer 1 (not your background) and let’s mark this up with our brushes! Here is how to load those brushes on the link I gave you! Click the buttons in order and the brushes I gave u should load up right ^^
Ok so make sure again that the top square on the side tool bar is black and bottom white and start marking it up. If you do something you don’t like go to Edit > Step Backward until it is back to where you want it. Go until you have something like this:
Now go to Layer 2 and change the top square to white and bottom to black. Again mark it up with the brushes:
Time to add the Render! Go to File > Open > and find your render.
Cut your render out with either the Lasso tool or the Magic Wand tool which is right next to the lasso tool. (Only use magic wand if the background surrounding your render is one color)
For the Magic Wand tool, after you clicked it, go to the top tool bar and change the Tolerance level to 5. Click on the background surrounding the Render. Then go to Select > Inverse.
Now use the Slice tool (right under the magic wand). Click the slice tool once on the render. Now use the Move Arrow (right above the wand) and drag and drop the render onto your sig canvas. Press CTRL + T to resize the image so it fits into your sig. (If you hold down shift while resizing it will stay the same proportions.
Here you can fine tune your render using the Lasso tool so no black or white lines are on the edges. (zoom in to have more control on which pixels to take out)
Now Duplicate your main render (Layer > Duplicate Layer) 3 or 4 times and spread them out around the sig till they cover up most if not all the space. In your Layer Window make sure that your main render is on top of the other layers that you just made. If not, drag and drop it to the top.
In the Layer Window, on the right hand side, select each of the Duplicated Renders and change each to this:
Soft Light -and- Opacity 50% (the soft light option is in the pull down window next to Opacity) Feel free to experiment with the opacity, as the higher the percentage the more color there is.
Now to add another picture!
Open it the same way as you did with your main render.
Now this part is up to you and what you want to do to it. I did almost the same thing as the copies of my Main Renders except for Soft Light I used Linear Dodge. I also rotated the image Edit > Transform > Rotate.
Now to blend in the Render with the rest of the sig.
Make 2 copies of the Main Render and put them right under the Main Render. To the one right below it, go to Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur
When the Gaussian window pops up change the Pixel Radius to 3.0 and press OK
Then go to Edit > Fade Guassian Blur and change percentage to 60%.
On the lower Render Copy go to Filter > Blur > Motion Blur and change to 34 pixels.
Then you should have something like this:
Now to Pixel Stretching!!! YAY!
This is easy! And adds a lot to your Sig!
Make a really really thin but full length selection of the most colorful part of your Main Render with either your Lasso or the Rectangle Box on the side tool bar. Then press CTRL + T and stretch it out as far as you want. Like this:
Oooohhhhh Pretty!
Now to make it useful!
Make it Soft Light and Opacity 50-65%. I used 65%
Put this layer on top of your Main Render or not, it is up to you. I put the stretch on top
on this one:
Now to give her somthing to hold. I just used a brush set that I had called fire…something or other, I forgot. Something that had to do with fire. (this really only applies to this Sig so uh…ya)
Now just the finishing up touches, Text and a Border!
To find nice Fonts for Text look here: http://www.dafont.com/theme.php?cat=109
EDIT: To load fonts into PS go to Program Files > Common Files > Adobe > Fonts. Then just drag and drop the font file in there ^^ (thankx to SilverCloud for catching this)
For the border, make a new layer and put at the very top of all your layers. Go to Select > All. Then go to Edit > Stroke:
Width make 3 pixels and make black.
Then go into Stroke again and make 2 pixels White
Again make 1 pixel black
Then, ALL DONE!!! YAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAY!
~~~~let me know if there is anything i need to fix ^^
thankies for reading and i hope it helps,
EDIT: If you want to continue and make your sig pwn all the other sigs out there, continue reading my next TUT on animation:
