Apparently alot of people are experiencing Blue screens of death and machines locking out on restart after the upgrade has been done.

Might be best to wait a short while for this to be recified.

If I were an apple user I woudl be pretty annoyed, Apple diverted alot of Leopards development for the iPhone. Although I doubt many Users will be annoyed, Apple can do no wrong in their eyes.. yet 3rd party drivers not developed for Vista is Microsofts fault..

But yeah Id wait a month or till new year.. with development diversions it might be best to make sure there are no other glitches.

I was a 'developer' for Leopard. I'm pretty happy, and have yet to find major bugs.

Thanks for the heads up, though. I have heard about this problem. It's probably like the whole Xbox 360 deal and them burning out. It happened to a handful of people, as well.

I'm sure Apple will handle this fairly quickly (or something was wrong with those few Mac computers).

nahhi think its just one of those upgrade things. i had trouble getting my ibook from 10.3 to 10.4 and i had to erase my entire hard drive, which didnt have anything important on it anyway, so it wasnt horrible

Could be. Either way; the problem should be resolved fairly quickly. Something I enjoy about Macs, and Apple in particular, is that they have great costumer service/care about their costumers.

Maybe that's just every time I had to use them (although I've had slim number of phone calls to them).

~I use both a mac and a PC just so you know where I'm coming from.~

That statement is complete bogus. Apple (compared to the PC world) has terrible Costumer Service, terrible. And now they have proved it publically with the iBrick.

For those that don’t know, when you install the new update for the iPhone, and if you have any hacks on it, your phone turns off and becomes useless.

What Mac needs to understand, something the PC world has understood up to this point, is that when a customer buys something THEY own it not the company.

The issue is people are treating their iPhones like mini computers...because that’s what they are.

And here Mac made them and they dont even know it.

Mac has a facade of good customer service...but if you actually have to use it, it is a nightmare!

First off they WONT EVEN TALK to you UNLESS you have the apple protection plan. Even after that they try to make everything your fault. And any damage HAS to be the customers fault, not there’s.

Sry but I dont specialize in making dead pixels in my screen or making "burnt marks" in the screen.

Then, if you argue enough with them over the next few days, they will be like "Well, as far as we can cover this will only be half and you will cover the other half."

Something my father once told me, “Once someone is willing to pay a percentage of something they are willing to pay for all of it.”

Just a few more hardlined 'Nos' from me and 3 more phone calls...1 week later I have my laptop fixed and i didnt spend a dime, they even paid for shipping both ways.

That was over 3 weeks that I didnt have my computer. (one of those weeks my computer was just sitting in their warehouse waiting to be worked on) This would not have happened in the PC world or atleast to that degree.

Mac has a lot to learn if they want to be a contender in the computer world, they got the product, they got the demand, they just need the service.

That's why I backed up my statement with that. I'm sorry you had a bad time with it, but different people have different luck.

Instead of fighting with you, like I did with Phoenix, I'm going to go ahead and call it quits for the day.

Good-day. :)

Its good they have responded quickly, but genrally Apple and Microsoft do. The problem usually is that people do not get the updates.

True I think Apple does have a good but I dont think they compete for market dominance.

A common misconception is that the difference is game support which to be fair for home use is, however Business they do not offer anything for coroporate market

Apple are primarily a hardware company and not software.

given that the Ipod is making nearly as much profit as the Macs, and now they dropped alot of development support to push teh iphone out..

Id be concerned that there is less of an effort or apples efforts seem to be changing direction slightly

But with regards to the problem, a good idea would be to wait a few months.. early adoption of things like this is a recipe for disaster.

Incidentally has anyone tried the iPhone yet??

Id liek to try one when my contract is up but Personally I am disgusted at the price of one..

I can get a "potentially" BETTER phone FREE, CHEAPER tarriff.. MORE minutes and text messages...

I like the look of it but is would cost me an extra £400 overall ($800)... Thats in UK anyway... I can only assume that people with more money than sense or Apple disciples will buy them

Espaiclly since it dont support
3G
group SMS
MMS

I don't know where you got 'fighting' from. I was discussing something with you, obviously you were putting more effort into the discussion that you were letting on.

i called them for my ibook, its hard drive failed, and they said they cant give me help without applecare, but theyll send me a few emails that might help. the emails they sent me were titled "what to do if your mac wont start up" "how to get applecare easily" and neither one helped in the slightest

on the contrary, i heard someone called a repair for a macbook, got the box the next day, sent it that day, apple got it the enxt day and sent it back 2 days later.....thats like a 5 day total fix, so thats not bad. compared to my xbox, which just came back yesterday and spent a full month and a half on the road, apples not doin to bad on repairs...

I agree. I was just in a hurry because I was about to miss my bus and what not, so I just typed the first thing that somewhat made sense. Believe me or not. I honestly don't care.

I think from customer support POV you can generally get mixed opinions on a lot of things..

Funny thing is... as soon as your a business customer, they change their attitude a whole lot.

*hasent read everything bc i dont have the time*

ive herd about this from some forums

i my self just upgrded, nothing went rong(THANK GOD, I HAVE MY LIFE ON THIS THING)

it must be non-intel macs only having the problem, or so ive heard

also, apples had some complaints with defective merch

lol, im glad i didnt read this b4 i installed bc theres allot of time where when you are going inbetween restarting and install processes, there are periods where theres a blue screen for 2 minutes while it does stuff(i know very descriptive eh?)

I didn't necessarily need the final product (considering I had it a while in advance), but I got it anyways just in case. :P

There are a few bugs in Leopard apparently so if there is any more systems to update id wait a month or so..

 #25269  by Orange

It was released on Friday. Of course there are bugs.

Window's XP still has a ton, and look how long ago that was released.

Awesome, we all agree that OSX is not a perfect program like most programs when they are released. And we are all also pretty sure that Mac will release an update soon, much like all developers do when there are a few bugs.

Chan, thank you for the heads up as always :)

Keep em' coming!

For now I will go ahead and lock this.
