i just got a mouse from wand that has no driver for it. its a Micro Innovations PD490P blue optical mouse and even the company website doesnt show the mouse anywhere. its pretty old, the original driver software was on a floppy disk. i was wondering if anyone knew where i could dig up the driver, cuz every place ive gone to doesnt have one and the one place that did gave me a driver that sed "go to control panel and install and configure system companents" wen i tried to install it.

add new hardware doesnt work either, it doesnt seem to sense the mouse in the PS/2 port. im not sure if this is becuz theres a working mouse in the usb prot or not but idk, cuz ive even tried to install it using no mouse and the mouse keys and nothing works. any suggestions?

You plugging it in while it is switched on or while powered down.

USB is hot swap ps2 isnt..

No reason why it shouldnt work with both plugged in but your best to test that yourself..

However even without driver it should still respond to somehing

driver theres one here

Or you have to switch to PS/2 in BIOS.

theres the problem, i thought ps/2 was hot swappable, so i just have to start the comp with the mouse plugged in first...

Yup! make sure power is off altogether for PS2

only SCSI, USB and firewire are generally hot swappable.
