I think you'd be still stabbed, but they'd actually enjoy it.

Ya, clapping doesn’t really serve a purpose anymore.

Interestingly enough though, what IS effective now is what sets humans apart from one another

...such as having weapons

Waving a knife or a gun around and the other humans in the area will react accordingly unless they too have a weapon.

See, nothing really has changed. What makes us "unique" in the situation still shows dominance.

People even go, “You see this gun?! It means I’m in charge now!”

Much like what we “said” back in the day when we just had our hands.

Interesting how primal can translate into literal.

Huh, odd. I never clap when I'm trying to scare something. But by your theory, when were clapping for someone we're actually trying to scare them.

My dad stomps his feet at poor little kittens.

I know that we're not trying to threaten people by clapping, I was just joking.

What about yelling?

When i woke up this morning after reading this the night before it came to me that when a gun (certain ones anyway) fires it makes a crack that could sound like a very loud crack.... so that even now our modern "warning sign" is still close to the older one... just more dangerous.. and fun >=3

Well screaming and screeching is primal aswell

So Id say Darko was correct aswell in his first post

Yes you are correct on one hand.

But many other animals do this same thing.

I was looking for something that was exclusively human.

You say the answer is clapping.
Is this backed up by reliable scientific proof or was it in your mind the most reasonable answer?

But why does everything have to be scientific?

Raven's ideas and posts here make sense and are really quite logical, why do you need scientific proof?

In fact, how the heck would you have scientific proof for something like this

*changes character to scientist*

"Yes, so we locked ourselves in a room with some common household pets one at a time with some CCTV and some heartbeat monitors hooked up to the animal, we then proceeded to agrivate the animals until we became threatened by their behaviour we began to clap at them, some of the animals were startled and moved back and others did not however their heart readings confirm that all of the tested animals felt slightly threatened themselves when we clapped at them"

*changes back to mee*

Not much other than that that scientists can do to prove it and tbh they need not bother do that, the results of these tests could be easily done by any member of the general public for them to see how the animals react.

Im not trying to rant at you but I fail to see how you could prove this with science really.

I don't ever clap...

From RaVeN's first post in this thread wrote:There is no science behind this; it is just more of a realization of the instinctual truth.
No offense ment to anyone but I'm kinda having to repeat myself a bunch of times in this thread...

imo. im a real scientific kinda guy. if it hasnt been prooved it cant be 100% sure it actually works,. ( llike aki.. i have never clapped. unless it was applauding some1)

Well you could therefore adopt a scientific point of view that evolution has changed us and our interpretation.

clapping isnt classified as a modern way to deal with fending off attackers and assailants..

*claps*
