Is this backed up by reliable scientific proof or was it in your mind the most reasonable answer?
But why does everything have to be scientific?
Raven's ideas and posts here make sense and are really quite logical, why do you need scientific proof?
In fact, how the heck would you have scientific proof for something like this
*changes character to scientist*
"Yes, so we locked ourselves in a room with some common household pets one at a time with some CCTV and some heartbeat monitors hooked up to the animal, we then proceeded to agrivate the animals until we became threatened by their behaviour we began to clap at them, some of the animals were startled and moved back and others did not however their heart readings confirm that all of the tested animals felt slightly threatened themselves when we clapped at them"

Not much other than that that scientists can do to prove it and tbh they need not bother do that, the results of these tests could be easily done by any member of the general public for them to see how the animals react.
Im not trying to rant at you but I fail to see how you could prove this with science really.
