We all know that jedi academy uses .GLM files to show models, is there a program that can make a .MDL file into a .GLM file?

try searching on the web (google youtube etc) for some kind of convertor

In my years at KR I've found something better than Google...it's called a Jawfin.

Well, as a fellow modeler, I would ask: what program did you use to make this .mdl file.

As for conversion I would recommend Milkshape, I don't have it in front of me atm, so I am uncertain if Milkshape supports it, but you could use Milkshape to convert to an .md3, which can then be made into a .glm using MD3View

If that is unhelpful let me know, other than that google can be ur friend here too :P

well, there are a couple games that use .MDL files, most likely VALVe games. im not really sure what program to use to open the .MDL file. as for that program Milkshape, ill search it up right now and see if it allows .MDL files

http://chumbalum.swissquake.ch/ms3d/index.html

That's a list of supported file types, i saw a quake MDL in the list (idk if that's the same file type) and it says its only export supported, there are several other MDL file types in the list too

well actully, some of the files i want to convert are mods extracted into half-life, so i guess that will work. thanks, ill post back if it works/doesnt work

i have run into problem, for half life models, it for somereason when ever i press open can only open .ms3d files, and for when i press Import the only thing for half life that pops up is SMD files, there are MDL files but with the title of "Serious Sam".

*Edit*: i have found in the "tools" tab that in half life to i can compile and decompile files, i tried "Decompile Normal HL MDL File..." but whenever i would click on the .MDL file then a pop-up shows up with check marks and things that say: ▒ Reffrence, ▒ Seqences, ▒ Textures, ▒ .qc File, OK. (▒= checkbox)

and when i press ok, this shows up:
ERROR: error writing .BMP: "\Program Files\Half-Life\models\player\ecx.gogeta.ssj4\hair.bmp"
ERROR: error writing .BMP: "\Program Files\Half-Life\models\player\ecx.gogeta.ssj4\legs.bmp"
ERROR: error opening file: "\Program Files\Half-Life\models\player\ecx.gogeta.ssj4\gokussj.smd"

Ok, so my understanding is you are trying to convert half-life / garry's mod models into JK3 readable files?

I doubt you can re-compile a HL model for JA, those models are too high poly I think.

I am not sure what program could help you either.... Sorry I wasn't much help D:

ehh you were some help, i think there is a way when i was toying with Milkshape, it showed signs of files that lead to other files that lead to the .glm thanks anyways, anyone else have an idea of how to help?

Oh also, forgot to mention this o.o

If what you're trying to convert for JA is a player model that would require a full re-skin of the bone structure, complete recompilation if you will.

Meaning you would have to acquire the bones, carcass files as well as an older version of 3DS max in order to compile correctly. Those are the things I had to get in order to make a player model that worked, and that was a pain even with windowsXP lol

So what I am saying is, it isn't a matter of compiling the models into JA readable format, they have to be setup correctly or they wont work at all. sorry if this is kind of a downer :<
