I haven't played SP in a while so I thought I would give it a try..

I was sadly mistaken. The game started but, in the animation at the ship, in the beginning the characters were invisible (gone, just a empty ship) and when the game started at Yavin I couldn't see the characters.
(though it was nice not beeing able to see Rosh)

I downloaded JA, I have Vista ( ) and Ive played SP once before on my computer.

I hope a god samaritan will help me out!

god samaritan to the rescue. i'd say its extremely likely a .pk3 you have installed is affecting the game play. The .pk3's work on both SP & MP, so if there is custom maps or characters or vehicles, events, textures, scripts really anything that the SP relies on it'll crash. To be sure, move out of your base folder all .pk3's that are not asset ones.

Thanks for the tip but I did what you said and it didnt affect anything. And then Ill follow up with another stupid question. Where do I put those pk 3's now?

And for reinstalling. I do not really want to do that cuz I had so much trouble installing japlus this time.

Im looking for a quick fix :D . For ex "Maybe you haven't clicked the right game".

Hope the "god"/good samaritan will continue aid me in my time of need.

Well, I thought you may have some .pk3 that edits the character skins but the .skin file doesn't match up with the image names. That's my thought, anyways. :|

Ive never wanted to play SP so badly 8)

I tried to play the game after I removed all pk3 except for the asset pk3.
The mystery remains.

I dont really want to reinstall the game which looks like the only way to deal with this.

You can save this version of JKA by making a copy of the GameData folder. Like, go into the "C:\Program Files\LucasArts\Star Wars Jedi Knight Jedi Academy\" folder, right-click GameData and select Copy, then press Ctrl+V on your keyboard and it will make a copy of that folder. After you reinstall you can restore this copy (which includes all your JA+) by renaming the newly made "GameData" to "GameData.old" and renaming your backed-up "Copy of GameData" ("GameData - Copy" for Windows 7) to "GameData".

If that didn't make sense then don't do it, because if I can't explain it well enough in text here now I also won't be able to explain how to fix it later if it was done wrong.

That makes perfect sense. Why haven't I thought of that. Im no moron but sometimes when it comes to computers my brain snaps and I loose all common sense. I only see the computer like an advanced rock that does excactly what it wants.

Thanks Jaw. Ill try that tomorrow!

Try running the game in compatibility mode.

Right mouse click on your launch icon > select properties from the drop down menu > click on compatibility tab > check "run this program in compatibility mode for:" > select Windows XP SP3 > launch the game.

Thanks for help guys!
