does anyone else run vista? if so how do you find the games to run?

I know its not a finished edition yet, Chantelle is and was basically a beta tester for it and has now an edition on her PC with both on as well as mine at home. but rather than try and switch between the two i was trying to see how well it played.

So i installed my brthers fifa game and it was a bit jumpy comapred to what it is on P and JA wont run at all

get that open GL error.. no good considering i have the only driver for it.

Also I cannot seem to find where or if and how to turn on FSAA and AF on in the settings?

This isnt my old PC is chans im reffering to which is more than capable and well seems to run vista realy really well..

Go buy the new flight simulator that is designed to work on Vista and its the only game i know that is out atm that is designed to work with Vista.

Is there not a compatibility wizard like on XP?

I dunno if its the gamnes as such but i think the problem you found was probabaly a driver issue

Release candidate 1 driver nvidia doenst support alot.. the rc2 has open gl.. ill try some more later on if you want?

thanks i wasnt really aware there was going to be compatabiliyt issues i guess the driver makes logical sense in why i cant get aa and af and JA..

maybe your right games will start to be geared towards vista.

although i dont peronally liek flight sims.. it woudl prob run well on chasn PC but mine wont even run aero lol but mines only a test machine

If you mean Windows Vista.. Then almost all games, but it need the latest drives and pentium 4....

I have Windows Vista pretty long time.. Must say i never had any problems with games... Now i have the lattest, have 5 games on computer ( Flyff, Silk Road, CoD 1 , CoD 2 , JKA ) and all works...

i know Age Of Empires III The War Chiefs is ru nning on vista and nfs carbon should 2 bf 2142 must be not sure cuz demo didn't and other very new games that are released within this month should be able to run

for the old games i dk xp has an option for running game on 9x nt 2000 series. maybe vista has that 2

Unfortunteley Sirion Vista might not be so hot working with JA by the time its released the latest version we had did not have a driver to support it..That is not to say it wont have by the time its public released (non business). Are you sure you have Vista and not just a Vista Skin?

If you have had Vista for a long time then you will have a sloooooow version since it will be beta, and its is full of debugging software to find bugs in the system. THis made it really slow.

Alot of games struggle on Vista at the minute , not massively but down to drivers not fully supported.

Vista is good and will be a better system over XP, however it does require a pretty decent ish system to get the full effects such as Aero.

FSAA = Full screen Anti aliaising,
AF = Atmospheric filtering

requires a bit of muscle from your graphics cards but trust me you pump these up and the quality of your graphcis improves vastly.. Even if you run JA with these on you can see the graphcis are much smoother and less jagged.

Run it in a high quality game like Oblivion etc and COD it makes so much difference

RC1 RC2 = Release candidate 1 and 2 basically the release copies of Vista MS's almost final releases taking the Beta stage further.

Yes Vista does have a backwards compatability thing, I havent tested it yet fully though, However XP's backwards compatability was extremeely lame

I play on Red Sea server ( I am lvl 10 at the moment, nickname Druize )... Chan, if i have it looong time it doesnt mean i have the old version. I update it everytime when new version come... Um.. It is hard to say but before Vista i had Windows XP.. I changed the windows by drive installing and adding Windows Vista.. Now when i look everywhere i have Windows Vista and all games work to me ( atleast whitch i tried yet ).

(Non topic , but to KR - The things are getting better.. The one of the worst will be with me till 18... So we will see. I gonna be back in 1 week on JKA =) )

why would you reinstall your entire copy of windows everytime a new version of vista came out?

are you sure you didnt use a vista theme? or vista blinds so it looks different.

the earlier vista wouldnt play any games at all and definateley not JA , why? becuase there was no Open GL in the driver.

incidentally leo star wars 2 runs fine on vista.. the fsaa and af do not seem to work on vista rc1 nvidia driver :S

well Mel had teh demo but had trouble running it on XP,, Everytime she tried to install it it installed some software I used for my IT Certs.. weird I think i sorted it though. but erm... thats my excuse lol ITS NORMAL FOR SOMEOEN MY AGE lol!!!! :-s

Im not sure COD 2 runs too well on mine, again this is a driver issue..

While it might probabaly run games fine we wont know until the publuc release has been done.

incidentally if you were referring to his screenshot then I do think that is not at least a recent version of vista.. it looks more like a xp reskin to me..

okay the screenshot he shown is a reskin because the beta releases do show hte build, there is no aero interface enabled and considering his resolution it would be enabled id assume plus the icons and meeneger and general layout has changed someowhat before teh release candidate

If he is running Vista he is running an older version of it, unless his daddy signed up as a beta tester but the RC1 ect doenst run JA because of open GL non supported.

this is a driver issue however.

I can get gaames to run but graphical extensions do not work.

I dunno certainly looks like vista but he definateley isnt running an RC version and isnt running Aero..

if tat is running Vista of some vareity i suspect its running well below par performace due to the de bugging.

What a computer talking 0_o... I dont know what the hell my father did, but i know that everywhere ( like in system informations, when system is loading i see Windows Vista ) But as i see that games i have and whitch i tried works very well with best graphic,i gonna think that i have a skin or like that. I really dont know and father dont remember -_-.. I will post there the image of my desktop with some programms to show you.

screen shots might not be so conclusive.. if your on vista use teh welcome center and post a screenie up of that, that will show what build your on..

Yea Sirion, get a screenshot posted. I doubt you are running Vista, it hasnt been released and its not advised to run beta programs for primary use.
