Just speaking from my observations on the server in the past Mendel was there when most of these new students were getting on board with KR and thus they probably feel a little closer connection to him, as he did coach a few of us newbies in the finer points of saber combat. With that said it is sad that Mendel is leaving but remember that he left on his own, no one forced him and the choice of whether or not to leave one's lightsaber on for a whole duel is not hard to change. And with that said, I think anyone who is leaving over this is making poor impulsive decision. KR is a great server and should not be condemned over one persons leave because of style issues.

The fact of the matter is that this isn't just a sudden spur-of-the-moment decision. When it first came to our attention that Mendel was being bugged about his style and might leave over it, Vince stated that if Mendel left because of it, so would he.

I personally have other reasons as well as this one, such as not being able to talk to my friends the way I want to when they're on the server, under any context; even if it's only the two of us on the server(apparently). I'm not talking about the censor, I'm talking about the context in which uncensored words are said. I can see this becoming an issue in the long run.

I'll be frank to both of you = Did you act on your hot blood like fools or you gathered some information first from other people than Mendel? The way it looks, you apparently did the worst. I do not remember any case with fighting style over all the years I'm a part of KR. I don't even recall reading that we told Mendel to completely change his style, we didn't. All we wanted him is to follow the rules he signed as a member of KR.

To leave is fully your decision, right, but the way you left you only left a bad impression. Next time you choose to do something, maybe try to think first and understand both sides or you'd prefer to keep making choices based on the very first emotions and thoughts you get? However, as angry as he may have been, he still left with dignity, uncompromising in his honor and his style, which is something to be admired. Is this really how you want to leave KR? Why I left was, as stated elsewhere, my style is seen as *encouraging* laming. I was even told that I can't use it in trials.

Yes, I did read the rules an sign them. I did not think that iaido would be seen as such a problem.

Thus, since I obviously don't fit in the family here, I left? If I quit using iaido, I'd simply not enjoy the game nearly as much anymore. I know not all see it this way, but *to me* it is like telling ppl they violate the rules for using backflips, or fanning, or crouching.

Bottom line, if KR wants the rules applied this way... thats their choice. Its not mine. We differ, and it is KRs server/clan. So I left to look for some other place where I can play, contribute and build friendships.

Theres no need to argue or get upset. I am disappointed too. I didn't want to leave. But as things are, thats better than causing a fuss.

So guys, please don't fight about it. I'm sure yall will forget about this soon enough. Angry words aren't gonna help settle things or persuade anyone else to set aside upset feelings. I left to avoid a fuss, not cause one. So, be at peace, please.

We don't hate KR, we've come to the conclusion that we no longer wish to be part of it as members, that's all. We're probably not gonna just disappear and never be seen again, there are people in KR that I like to hang out with, or I wouldn't have joined to begin with.

Ok, now I can understand that one, think of it like people speaking a language you don't understand, they say a word that looks like a swear word but translates to something else, is "maybe it means something else" the first thing through your mind or is "he just insulted me"? Its worse when the word is made up cause only you know the meaning of it, and in actuality the word has no meaning. If you explained that word didn't mean "nub" (which is in the word) then I can sympathize.

We even have members who WILL wipe out a dictionary (or .com) to look up meanings for they, 1: wonder the meaning, 2: don't speak english natively.

With that said, made up languages are similar to foreign languages which we enforce the english only rule, and members follow it, with a few slip ups, which is ok, everyone makes mistakes. But then there are some who are up-set by this rule (not members, guests), for instance, two Argentinian players used to come to the server, and start speaking spanish (I think was it), we tell them english only and that start complaining that we are "racist to Argentina." Which we aren't.

Using words only you know the meaning of can cause problems, especially when that word looks SO much like an insult.

We made it clear to everyone on the server (Vihawk, Falcon, Fazz) what the word meant, they were also aware that Pimpe (who knows what it means very clearly, and uses it as well) was a friend of ours, and knew what it meant.

The point I'm making about context is that we were the only ones on the server; and that we were talking only to Pimpe who, as I said before, was only on to see us.

I can understand that, Shenron. It seems silly if it is only a few people who know or are explained to what the word means.

However, I think it is more a matter of principle than anything else, from your choice of words to Mendel's saber style. While it may seem easier to make exceptions for particular people and seemingly harmless instances, others will want those same exceptions, too. If we do not let them, they will say it is unfair and become angry about it. In the long run, it is easier to stick by a set of rules than it is to amend them time and time again for specific situations. So while it may have fallen into a gray area of the rules and caused plenty of confusion for Padawan and Council alike, it was decided it would be safest to adhere to the KR Rules as best we can.

It may not seem fair or smart, but in the long run it is the fairest and wisest course of action to take.

I'm sorry I thought you hated KR; it was just the sudden, angry way you and Vincent left that sort of shocked me and left me feeling dazed. I'm also sorry that this is such a sticking point for so many people, because otherwise you are all very nice, fun, rule-abiding guys.
