The Earth goes through an Ice Age approximately every ten thousand years, give or take a millennia. Ice ages aren't caused solely by meteors, though the one that hit sixty-five million years ago did cause a massive ice age, blocking out the sun for nearly ten thousand years (or so some paleontologists believe).
Still, the planet goes through ice ages regularly with or without the aid of a meteoric black out... in fact, we're overdue one.
