And I believe there is one aspect everyone here perhaps has failed to realize. Laika is Jedi Adept which means she doesn't need her master's approval for her Knight's trial which means we may well leave her at that rank. In fact, the only reason we would make her a Student again is due to her own inactivity.

The only actual loser here is Taipan as his Padawan went AWOL and he has lost over 4 months of progress in the process.

This thread was left open solely for the purpose of Taipan to tell us the results of his PM to Laika, which I presume is still unread.

There's no problem with Taipan dropping Laika.

She will maintain her rank of Jedi Adept that she has earned. If she decides to come back and take her knight's trial Taipan will not be credited with the result unfortunately.

Taipan is free to take a Padawan again.
