I was once in a museum and this mother was showing her kids a picture of the Milky Way Galaxy and pointed to the center saying that it was our sun...and that Earth was one of the dots circling that sun...

you may need to open up teh picture to see our Sun is only one pixel big on the scale of other stars in our solar system
Google earth and Microsoft telescope allow you to browse around the stars a bit
Sadly where I live in the city it is not so easy to see the stars at night..
But When I do get the chance I do stare and wonder..
It really does open your mind!
