Hello everybody!
Gosh I am sorry to annoy you with another favour request. This time it's not for me, but for my friend, but I am the one who should do it as he has no advanced knowledge of computer technology.

The thing is, he had an arguement with mother and got his computer on password. Password is set on only one user, which has administrative rights.
We tried loading through safe mode ( F8 key ), though once it loads there's just one user and the one with password. I've been searching net for some information, I've found stuff like Ophcrack, though no idea if that's the real solution. It would be so easy by safe mode if he used Windows XP, but he has Windows Vista Home Premium, it's security is just ... better than XP's .

I think about trying out the Ophcrack, but that's a really risky thing to do ( It tries cracking password through NT hashes =S ).

I am experienced XP user instead of Windows Vista Home Premium ( I have it too, so I can make experiments ), that's why I thought I'd post in here and ask for help again.

Thank you for reading,
Wolferion

I am asking for a tip how to bypass a password on user account on friend's computer. He asked me, I didn't tell no.

Have you tried the administrator account?

There are disk tools you can get to rest the password.. but of course... resetting the password makes it obvious.. it has bene reset.

We can't log on to administrator account through safe boost, it's not shown. As well there's just one user ( the locked one ) to log in once computer is turnt on. I could without a problem make administrator visible, but I'd need a command prompt and we can't get to it without a password. I've found so far a nice programme that just deletes the password, we will try it once his parents are away and I have time.

Try the ophcrack live cd. You just need to burn the iso to a cd, and then boot from it. It'll reveal the password for every account on the computer, so you can log in without changing the password.

We tried it 3 times in a rough with Ophcrack Live CD, it always told : Not found. I tried it back at home then and it found my own password, so idk. So far we still have in plan to wait for a chance and use the password delete programme.
