Cannot believe its been a whole seven years

Documentary on last night again about the hotel I think of it.

Always amazed me the reaction of the normal citizens on their way to work, the absolute shock and cries of terror when they see what happened. The entire city was in total disbelief

It even now sends a chill down my spine.

I always think to commend the emergency services. The around the clock non stop effort they put it to save lifes is next to nothing.

First year that my school hasnt had a 2 minute silence for the people who died, kinda sad the way it is being forgotten a little bit more each year but I guess its enivitable, we dont have 2 minute silences on aniversarys of the burning of cities from the 1500's or something like that >_<

Odd you would say that saun, I was thinking the same thing.

This is my first year in NYC for 9/11, not like I was looking forward to it, but today (so far) is just like any other day here...busy.

Perhaps there is something different in the atmosphere today but for the most part it is just another pretty day in nyc.

Now, I'm not saying New Yorkers have forgotten or don't care, but I think New Yorkers are doing what they do best - moving forward.

Well to be honest I agree. I wasnt trying to make too much of an aniversary thing of it..

I think thats the best thing

I think people have to kind of move on from it. But at the same time not forget.

But my thread was more the aniversary in case anyone lost someone close to them.

There isnt much of a big deal made reallly of it over here anymore.

Its just every time I see footage and the screams, It really send the shivers down me.

Still got to have been the biggest terror attack ever.

If you don't want to hear a very Anti-911 Day post, don't read below.

Personally, I'm sick of hearing about 9-11. It was a very tragic event, yes, but that was 7 years ago and a lot worse things are happening everyday. If I hear one more person say "We should all give a moment of silence for the people who lost their lives that day," I think I'm going to friggen kill myself.
Why don't we give a moment of silence everyday for the soldiers in Iraq?

If you support 9-11 day then that's totally fine with me; sorry if I seemed harsh but that's just my opinion.

Seriously 9/11 is no big deal here , nither are madrid bombings or the London bombings, we get on

I just seen something last night and thought it might have meant something to some of you, maybe some of you lost a close friend. I nearly did.

I apologise for annoying people

Some please lock or delete this thread.

ps my brother was a Marine in the forces

However I am able to distinguish the difference that he is in the forces to do a job by choice, despite the fact I feel the position there was illegal intent.

Oh no no, by all means keep the thread open. You making a topic about it didn't annoy me. It's just the whole thing in general.

Also if anyone here really did lose someone on 9-11, I really am sorry.

I feel this topic is still very much valid, but if you would like me to lock it I can.

It is a very nice gesture, Chan. But people are going to wrestle with this for a long time. It was a dark moment in the states when this happened, and the events that followed after as well.

We overreacted because we were afraid for the first time in a long time. But it is best to learn from our mistakes, and it is that reason that I think 9/11 should not be forgotten. Not for the other reasons that some use to encourage fear and anger.

Us being afraid cost us greatly economically, internally, politically and has smeared our global image, not to mention all of the lives lost.

At the risk of sounding patriotic - I don't think Americans can be afraid like that again, I don't think we can afford it, I don't think the world can afford it.

But I also believe we are above it.

I think Here in UK we understand alot about how it affects thinsg also. Since we pretty much stood side by side with US in the whole thing over the last 7 years.

Why I kind or raised the presedential thread, Kind of made me thought.. which way now?

I think here Like wise our Political group which Blair was in (now Gordon Brown) is going to be overturned next election.
