Somehow I've gotten this virus..(not from pr0n)
it slows down my net + it closes some applications that I use at times.

I tried using Ad Aware anti virus but tbh it doesnt stop the the cookies or any other viruses coming. so if anyone has any good anti virus link that is free and would wipe out teh viruses on my comp =X i would be glad.

as for cookies...you can set ur IE to delete your cookies everytime you close IE i think. at least it works with Firefox.

I agree with RaVen. I use Avast! as free edition, my father is trying the shareware Avast! Proffesional, but there isnt much of a difference.

You don't need to format

You don't need to pay for Avast either. RaVeN Gave you not the right link or best link

http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html

But I think the above question is important what you using now and show your processes..

Also go into msconfig andf see whats on startup.. also post that

I personally use AVG free... Works perfectly for me... finds pretty much everything... But like they said it would really help to know what you use (and if its Ad Aware I'm fairly sure that's for spyware, right?) and to know what's going on in your computer... (processes ect..)

Yup, AVG is another suggestion, that is what I use myself personally aswell. Either is fine though

maybe he should use both to scan his computer one at a time and clear it out? Also, if using a search program AVG will scan the linked website to make sure no viruses on it, so that's another plus :D

Avast! does similar. I have an experience with AVG, though, I guess the Czech one was bad or something like that >.< It was slowing much system down.

huh... I've never had a problem of it slowing my computer down ever... maybe it was an older version?

This is my life on a daily basis.
Only one real solution, a person comes in via remote control and fixes it for you.
I can do this if you like.
In which case you will end up with AVG-free and COMODO firewall, also I use a few other applications like LavaSoft AdAware and SpyBot Search & Destroy and TrendSoft HijackThis!
The remote control application I use is CrossLoop to begin with, in the hope of getting UltraVNC to run. And finally we will need to commincate via anyone of the IM programmes; I have them all.

shhh, AVG = Avira xD it used to be called 'Antivir' but they changed it to Avira ^^ and yeah, it finds pretty much everything. I've tried Avast, but that was too complicated >_> too many settings, optinos & buttons

i use avast on all my computers and find it easy to use and also very good protection

i use avast and ad-aware

I just did an inventory (so to speak) of all my programs of this nature... I found I have ad-aware and spybot search and destroy in addition to AVG (and mostly disabled) windows firewall... Also this topic reminded me to update (I forget to do this quite often) so thanks :)

No point in saying what to get first needs to sort out whats going on with the troubled stuff first..

Had a user with a laptop, takes it home and I know he uses it for non work means.. does all sorts of shit on it.. now his was riddled so I spent ages cleaning it up..

I chose to lock him down if he does it again.

Get a mate to look at it if your not sure..

Someone said abve thgat remote desktop is an option.. but there is not a cat in hells chance that personally id offer that service.
