Does this sound like they are having a giraffe?

We have a small office up the other end of the country used for service calls and sales etc etc.. anyway they dial in vpn etc ect

But I got a brand new HP Laser printer in for them set it up and tested it here no problems at all.

Sent it up there they put it on.. they say it seems to print okay but there seems to be SMOKE coming out the back of it.. Also the paper feels cold when it comes out.. seems off to me because surely a laser fuser burns toner on thast why the paper is always warm right?

Anyway my supplier asks me to ring HP ask for warranty or service replacement...

HP claim its NORMAL and that its not smoke its STEAM! I wasnt having it and want proof but they are not giving this to me.

Sureley Steam coming froma electronic device is dangerous anyway and smoke coming from it is fire potent??

Anyone here heard of this or do you agree they are trying to fob me off..

I a'int(sic) having none of it so far!

Hahahaha they seriously told you it was steam?!?! xD

I have no idea myself whether they are telling you the truth (sorry) but I would not believe a word of it, I thought the steam age was well and truly gone except for shows with old trams and stuff.

It's common sense to realise that there shouldn't be either steam or smoke coming out the back of a (laser) printer.

Some people do get a slight smell of burning the first couple of times during it's use, but that will go away. The worst that should come out is warm air.

To be honest it's very unlike HP to make a fuss over something like that, i've always known their products and customer service to be one of the best. If I were you i'd just ring them back and tell them how much experience you've had in the IT industry and that you've never seen a new laser printer that smokes when you use it.

yeah all Jokes aside I also like Andy am surprised at HPs stance

They do normally provide probabaly the best printer products and great service.

Also Steam?? thats going to be lots of moisture, and coming from an electrical device doesnt sound safe to me.

Smopke could be a faulty fuser, if its elecctrical thats again a fire hazard.

If it were old id understand as you get burning and smoke from burning dust.

I havent had that much expereince lol I think thats the thing when they hear an 18 year old girl they must think what the hell she know..

If I get chance ill ring them up today and see whats on!!

I am a qualified professional now so I can use that (even though it doesnt really have anything to do with printers) it may make them take me more seriously..
