I think your generally okay with either
personally i use avast at home, I hear NOD32 is pretty good aswell, althogh detection databases seems to favour Kaspersky as the best although it is not free..
If you getting a new AV Stick with those
General rule avoid Norton/ Symantec like the plague (might wanna throw in McAfee in there aswel although they are not as bad). I know people are entitled to their opinion but I have dealt with far too many systems that has been detremented by this rubbish.. It causes more problems than solves (it dosnt detect always anyway).. I have solved so many systems and getting rid of that was the crux. It cannot be coicidence throughout the pro world that it is universally hated in business environment.
I finally got rid of the symantec which was implemented at work, slowed emails down to 10 mins min. Roll outs didnt work often and the machines were slowed down..
Dont get me wrong if you (anyone) uses it and your happy its stable and working fine , but personally Id beg anyone to chose otherwise.
But I have put otheranti virus software on these machines and PICKED up mallicious stuff which Norton missed!!!
Kaspersky
AVG
Avast
NOD32
^^ Stick with them
F Secure and Trend Micro PCCillin are OK
Chantelle
