10 years, Falcon! That is a very long time to be sitting in the same chair. 8)
But I'm afraid I can't speak with experience on this. The only person in KR that is qualified to comment would be Jawfin.

So instead, I've been thinking about this word 'Legendary' the past few days counting down to your 10 Year KR Council Anniversary (and, yes, I've been keeping track - I made a google calendar event and everything!)
I remember you telling others in a post, that when you first joined KR you heard 'legends' about some old KR members, one of them being me. And how surprised you were when I took you as my student.

I was flattered, of course, but the word 'cringe' also aptly applied.
What is it about this word 'Legendary' that seems so paradoxical to me?

Well let's break down this word using only facts. Just the facts.

To start, we have the word 'Legend' which means - a traditional story sometimes popularly regarded as historical but unauthenticated - OR - an extremely famous or notorious person, especially in a particular field.
(Thanks internet!)

Basically it means a story.

Then we have 'Dairy', which when I looked it up...seemed out of place at first, but ok - a building, room, or establishment for the storage, processing, and distribution of milk and milk products - OR - containing or made from milk.
(Thanks internet?)

So in the end we have "Story Milk" or "Story Cheese"
Or how I will define it - A Cheesy Story.

And doesn't that just hit the nail on the head?
Especially when attributed to me.

I've told a lot of cheesy stories in my time in KR because they help me convey my own emotions to the people I care about. It's one of my few social communication tools I have that (sometimes) works. And because I run out of words to use like 'Proud', and 'Honored', so I have to find other ways to not sound repetitive.

Those two words above have applied to me about you for over a decade now.
OVER.A.DECADE.FALCON.
How am I supposed to constantly reword this? How am I supposed to keep writing these cheesy stories about you, for you? (For me.)

I wish great words existed for me to write out your Legend, properly. Because, as I've said before, you have surpassed me.
Those Legends that impressed you so long ago - your own outshines them all.
You are greater than me, not because of you-trying, but because of you-doing.

Permanently affixed, your own Legend continues to expand in KR.
And it's a story, a Legend that I don't cringe about being apart of.

Across all metrics, I'm lucky to have met you ;)

Well put RaVeN.

I of course have a different perspective on Falcon, I love her very much, but more as her student than master, and then like you as a peer. All of us in our own ways are great, but it's the likes of Rav and Fal, and even myself, on others which makes the legends. I would guess to most it's not evident just how much the council members rely on each other for even basic decisions and advice.

And I'm sure that both Fal and I would agree that we only are what we are because of those around us (and I am only speaking in this manner as Rav put me on the spot to do so, otherwise I wouldn't be talking about myself).

Falcon is my legend. And my Raven is too.

Tree if you check your PM box and this post when you get a chance I'd appreciate it :)

Everyone please welcome our newest member!
You were there to welcome me into the clan 6 years ago and you're still here today. KR wouldn't have been the same for me without you Fal! Happy 10 years, and thanks for everything you've done!

Congratulations, Fal. I'm happy to be apart of KR whilst you have been at the head for so long and have experienced all there needs to be experienced as a leader, and to prove that you have what it takes whilst I've been on server has been, to put it lightly, really awesome. Here's to another 10 years but this time I'm leading KR and you're a Knight.

Sidenote: RaVeN, it's almost Christmas, are you going to grace us with your presence? ;p ;p ;p

Thank you for your many years of dedication and hard work to make KR what it is today: the best, sexiest, longest lasting, and most stable clan family in the history of the game.

At the heart of every legend, there is truth.

Truth that you are an awesome person and member and leader of this awesome clan.

Truth that you offered to train me back when Wind wasn't on much to do it as my master and I declined because I foresaw me being absent for quite a while.

Truth that you have always been there for all of us and joined us on the server when you could.

Truth that your name is of the great and beautiful bird of prey and the U.S. Air Force F-16 Fighter Jet. :)

Truth that you ARE a great friend to us all and a person that sets a good example for all of us.

Truth that you will continue to soar high and always know that your nest is here, with us at KR. :)

Reading about it, sure hits one hard with the whole "geez, we sure have been around a seriously long time", but it's a great feeling. Thank you for being around Falcon and for everything you've done. My best wishes are with you on the way ever forward, us veterans got your back in case we're needed ;)

Sorry to be late to my own surprise party, but wow!

First of all, thank you Rav. This is incredibly nice of you to post.

I don't have any words for how this makes me feel. Elated? Flattered? Confused as to what to say? I hope you didn't fill up too much on Christmas dinner because I'm about to serve a huge helping of cheese!

When I first joined others spoke of members such as you, RoNin, Lessa, Fluffy, etc and likened you to mythical creatures from another time. And getting to see one of you on server was a huge treat for us underlings. So when you offered to take me as your Padawan I was blown away. Like....what? I've seen her duel before and how respected she is and she wants...me? This dumb high school kid who doesn't know a saber from a grappling hook? ...Okay ya maybe an exaggeration for comedic effect but the point is I was speechless to say the least.

However, with age comes gray hair and experience. I see now that you are not a legend, nor am I or anyone else in the clan or has ever been in the clan. At least, not for the reasons I thought back then.

You see, back then I thought "legendary status" was obtained by being an old timer that annhilates people with a lightsaber. It was obvious to me that you commanded respect with your mere presence, whether intentional or not. It would be like walking in to a room and people staring at you in awe, whispering things like "Wow...its really...her! I can't believe she's just walking around like a normal person!"

It took me a long time to realize that is exactly what you are - a normal person.

In my tenure as your Padawan I learned a lot, both about the game and about the clan. However, it was not the game mechanics that stuck with me the most. It was way you talked to me, trained me, and helped me (even before I was in the clan) that taught me so much about how a KR member should act and...be. In the outside world I felt so alone, but in Jedi Academy of all places I felt as if I had a home. And most of all - a bond with someone truly special. It's something I still cherish to this day, and I maintain that it's the biggest reason I've stuck with KR for so long.

THAT is what makes a legend.

Not your mad saber skills, or being around since the dawn of time. It is your personality, and the lasting impression you make on others that can turn a clueless 18-year-old into a Council member. Not to say I haven't worked hard to get to where I am, but you were and are my biggest inspiration.

Personally, I think the term "legend" gets thrown around too often, and I certainly don't consider myself one, or really anyone else. I consider the clan my family, people I will never forget. I've had so many good memories in KR, and so many times the community helped me during very dark times in my personal life. That is what KR is and always will be to me - a family.

Whew, this is way more than I intended on writing. Sorry about that! To conclude this short story I'll just say this: It has been my honor and privilege to lead such an amazing community these past 10 years. And I will continue as long as you will have me :)
