So recently a belgium artist (a rapper actually) released a new album call Lithopédion, the whole album is about how everyone lies, even to themself, and act to enter social codes and society in general. In this album, Damso (the artist), calls out about all of those lies, how he doesn't know who he is himself after all the time he lied about himself. Damso is the kind of guy who's direct, speaking with direct and most of the time "rude" words, and because of this, he started to be more and more alone, trapped in his own lies and in the society, like a lithopédion (for those who doesn't know, a lithopédion is a child that die inside the mother). The whole album is pretty darkish, like his others album, but is trully one of the best that has been released this past years.

So i was wondering, what is for you, the song, the album, or just an artist that made you think about your own life and everything around, that with the power of words, they made you changed?

I haven't listened to the song, because quite frankly, I am hardly a fan of rap, but the concept of denying certain elements of your social construct in order to fit within a circle is a fairly common thing. I think it is born out of neglect in many respects. Being fully characteristically transparent can be a difficult state to maintain, when in our current culture, sensitivity is through the roof. This kind of reclusive tactic is a major cause of cynicism among teens and young adults.

The way this concept changed me as a artist is pretty minimal. I'll still draw what I want. The changes in me as a person has definitely caused apathy and cynicism.

Everything from The Wall, The Dark Side Of The Moon or even Animals. Pink Floyd made me change the way I perceive music and life.

It ain't really 100% rap tho, the way he raps is pretty specific (for some songs, not all of them obviously), and pretty original. Here's one of my favorite of his album, it's called "Julien", talks about a normal guy, normal job normal life. But secretly is a pedophile (yeah that can stop you from listening it actually, but you really should imo, just for how it sounds). This song is really focused about how we all hide our true personnality. The name Julien wasn't used randomly, it's one of the most used name. And in the song, there's a passage where you can hear a woman on the phone, saying her name is Julien. It basically tells how we all are a Julien in our own way, hiding who we truly are. Here's the link, just in case :p https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zHjCpNpeO7Y

More recently(ish), these two songs:

Lukas Graham - 7 Years
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LHCob76kigA

Ed Sheeran - Castle on the Hill

Neither singers are really my favorite, but I do like those songs because it makes me look back.

The artist that has impacted me the most in my life is without a doubt Bruce Lee. I remember spending hours watching videos like these:

Something about his clarity of mind and life philosophy really resonated with me and gave me this immense drive, kickstarting my still ongoing journey into becoming a fitness intructor and martial arts teacher. It's crazy that 45 years after his death he's still inspiring many across the world.

As far as music goes I used to be pretty closed off. I used to only listen to songs I could understand the lyrics to until I stumbled across this song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sO63o2ufitE
I was so blown away by the talent of this singer it made me wonder just how much I was missing out on. As a result I've turned into a huge music fan and I've been listening to music from various different cultures.

But yeah these two come to mind when thinking of artists that have changed me for the better :)

I'm into many different genres of music but rap is defo my favourite. Imo xxxtentacion was the only artist that got to my head simply due to his versatility. He would either rap about killings, etc or depression and other things. I found out about him right before he blew up. When he went prison he went in there hardcore and went out like Nelson Mandela lol. He made a lot of relatable songs which actually got into my head. His death kinda got to me and made me think about life since he was just trying to buy a bike and his life ended just like that especially when he was constantly trying to turn his life around my helping everyone. My favourites by him are Jocelyn Flores, Carry on, and Vice City (my fav)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZTx9PGo9DFE This song made me question how I lived, my own mentality. This was at a stage where my mum's Bipolar was at its worst, and the song just stuck with me. One of the people in the comments said that it "itches a nerve in your brain you didn't know you had" and I completely agree. At the time, I was at one of my lowest, and I somehow related to a lot of it.

In terms of albums, Iowa from Slipknot helped me through some tough times, as well as the album City of Evil, and their self-titled album (Avenged Sevenfold) helped me through my younger years. A song that helped me start going out, smoking weed and socializing, that would be The Nameless by Slipknot https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=crN0c7-FplA. I do not know why, but it promoted me going outside and made me make a ton of friends outside of gaming. It was a good time for me and has led to me being a strong advocate for going outside when there's something on.
