my computer is a zombie. simply put. It shouldn't even be alive at this point, yet still is. I get major FPS issues and I have a hard time accomplishing even the simplest of things. Getting a new video card is not the problem, my RAM is the problem. As a direct result I have issues with FPS, and I even suspect ping might be an issue because of how hard a time my RAM is having with even ten year old graphics.

So, the solution is that I will be getting a new PC soon, something that can run JKA at a modest 20 FPS or something. Here is a screenshot of my more common situations in JKA:

This is a screenie of when I was spectating in KR2. Look at my FPS rate. :x
So I won't be on as often. I'll play every week hopefully but I will be heavily restricted and limited in how I can play.

Get a laptop. They're dirt cheap anymore, and there are certain brands that are designed with a healthy dose of gaming in mind. It's what I use, and I'm running the game on it's highest settings without an issue. Not sure if it's a possibility for you, but it's an option that's out there. Otherwise, getting new hardware for your present computer might be another option.

How high has your computer run jka previously? Is it possible that you can dedicate more RAM to running jka? and if I were to get a new computer, I'd want it to be able to run a game as old as jka with 120 fps, not an unbearable 20 fps. I'm just saying make your money count!(Or your parent's money, whichever one)

I second what Uscari said. Shop around. Don't just settle on the first computer you or your parents look at. It's best to know exactly what you're looking for, since then you can easily shop around for the most affordable price.

Well to answer everyone universally, my PC has run JKA usually at a modest 10 to 20 FPS. And no my PC's storage cannot be dedicated to JKA, unless I want Steam to not work. Long story short, Steam started directing all it's information directly onto my desktop, and if I deleted any of it, Steam became a werid dark ghost o _O
Yeah I do want a laptop however my eyes would have a hard time adjusting to it during combat and such,

... e.e and my Dad is a PC hardware engineer and technician. He knows what PC to get, this is mostly my fault in the crap I've downloaded into this thing over the years. Not to mention that it is a little old. Whenever I get a chance to use his PC, it runs JKA like butter on a hot knife. Though for some reason the lag lingers on. Basic point, I won't be at peak condition until a verry loongg time.. or in other words when I lose duels,
I blame lag and my PC

why not: a) get an external hdd, b) buy better ram --you have to be able to squeeze 4gb in there c) delete the games you don't play (steam keeps ur access to them), d) since ur dad is an engineer, wipe your hdd and start again fresh, e) fix your lighting settings on jka (least importantly), f) make sure on-going virus protection is off and/or g) make sure your bandwidth/ram isn't preoccupied while playing.

Source: I've had to do all of this for my 10 year old laptop that gets 50-60 fps (on KR2 its around 75-90), and i've worked on computers for a very long time.

Your choice though buddy. A new computer is tasty either way. Sadly, if certain other issues aren't remedied, you may end up with only 10-20 fps. You said this fps before, but bro, 10-20 is a big problem. Add ping to that and your game is still not playable. Just my thoughts.

Lag would be an issue with your internet connection, Frog. Echoing what Sh!nk said, I would recommend cleaning out your harddrive. With me, I use my external for all my music/mods and such, so that it frees up space on my laptop. I try to keep only the essential things on my PC, as loading it up with stuff produces issues with speed and such. Doing that would definitely help your PC run a bit bitter. In addition, I'd google solutions for why Steam is directing stuff onto your desktop. That should be an easy fix, as it seems that the program merely had its directory changed to the desktop.

yeah a new pc should solve some issues as long as it has a decent amount of memory and processing power, just make sure you set all the ping commands and stuff when you install jka on it to get good fps.

as for the steam redirecting things to your desktop, do you mean steam files are filling up the desktop? because that could be due to where you set your install folder for steam (you could have picked desktop by mistake), take a look at this anyway, if this isn't the issue then i'm sorry in advance for misunderstanding:
