Greetings people living in the US! Why US? Because I want to ask a few questions directed to those individuals living in the US.

As you may or may not know (most likely not, as when people change their nickname all their "history" mysteriously vanishes and you become unknown to most people. Not to mention I am a little out of touch with current KR members because of ... college and other "reasons")
I am almost done with my college education (Bachelor in Computer Science; Programming, Game Design/Development - wohoo) and I will begin looking for a job where I can get mentally challenged (you may insert a joke here) and use the awesome skills I have learned, as well as learn new ones.

I currently live in Norway, but have very little against moving outside Norway (more specifically to the US). However If that were the case; I have a few concerns with that. Without telling you exactly what my concerns are (I don't want any biased opinions) I would like to ask you, as an US citizen - What is your biggest concerns living in the US? :3

Politics? Corruption? Cops violating your rights? Gas prizes too high? Criminals? Presidential candidates?
Heck; Would you as an US citizen have anything against a foreigner (Norwegian) coming to US stealing your engineering/programming jobs? (You may be honest - I will not take it personal and value honesty and criticism) :)

Love you all.
xoxo #KRforever

To be honest, and this may sound bad -- alot of it has to do with your ethnicity and sex (male or female), to determine perception of being a U.S. citizen.
For me (white male, just turned 30), I really don't have any major worries at all.

Gas prices are fairly reasonable, but can vary based on where you live. The more North and West you are towards larger cities, the more expensive things tend to get, including food, clothes and rent/mortgage.

Crime rates can also vary, but become more common in urban city areas, and also depends largely on your race. Unfortunately, non-white races tend to suffer more in terms of being involved in crime and hostile environments, but no one is 100% safe :P.

Internet is spotty in county-side areas, and becomes higher in quality the closer you are to a major city, unless you go towards the center of the country where Google Fiber is becoming more and more common.

Hope this answers your questions :P, feel free to ask any others. The more specific, the better.

It's not stealing if you come to the country legally.
The States are currently in an all demand, little supply for people with computer programming skill set, so you won't be stealing anything, rather adding to the possible supply we need.

I'd wait until after November to see if you still want to come to the States, because Drumpf

Suffice to say I will be living close or inside a major city - most likely.

Of course - Will be staying in China until October before looking for a job, and I most certainly will not move anywhere in the US (if at all) if the people elect a doof in office :)

Trump and Hillary, a idiot clown and a murderering dictator.

Guys allowed to go in girls restroom.

Homosexuality. Transexuality or otherwise '' I am not what I have between my legs '' sexuality.

Call of Duty.

Jedi are overrated.

Being persecuted for my beliefs by children.

Haters of the prequels.

White Castles.

Racism.

Sexism.

Call of Duty.

Terrorists.

Murderers.

Rapists.

Sugerless Coffee.

My rusty and near useless knife.

I'm not old enough to own a Colt 45 M1911.

Gun rights opression.

Apple putting listening devices in my TV.

Barack Obama.

Call of Duty.

Aquaman.

Admin Complaints.

Obama letting in Syrian refugees. Don't get me wrong, if they're innocent, they deserve to be saved. But at the cost of bringing in potential terrorists is like putting poison in a cake. It may taste good while it lasts but you will die, in the end.

Like dopie said, a lot of the bad stuff depends on your ethnicity and where you live unfortunately. I haven't had any issues, but I'm a white male so I'm probably not the right person to answer this particular question. As far as politics, I don't think Trump would be quite as bad as people make him out to be. I'm certainly not a fan of his, and I don't think he would be a good President, but I think (hope) that a lot of the bluster and offense will go away if he gets elected and realizes he has to get his stuff together. At the end of the day, this is why the system of checks and balances exists, so if we get a President that is bad or just dumb, he can't do too much damage.

Bear in mind, I don't hate homosexual's or any of those. It's just out of concern of my Country, of which I could at one point be proud of. Now the only thing I can be is of our military and resources. And the faint echo of stability and freedom. Also one thing I forgot to add was Call Of Duty and politics.

Disney turning everything into a mindless action movie.
Political Exaggerations
Biased Media
Tornadoes
Too much snow
Computer games cost too much
Gas costs too much
Education costs too much
Children cost too much
Insurance costs too much
Women cost too much
Cars cost too much
Guns cost to much
Cheese costs too much
Pop tarts cost too much
My job is too far away
Electronic Arts
Wages not keeping up with cost of living.
The sun is too bright
Cops not doing their job.
Not enough free tacos on Tuesdays
American jka basers

And yes. These are all strictly American problems.

Two of the biggest problems in the US, which are perhaps only a step or two removed from each other in relation, are the health care system (not just insurance, but the health provider system as well, which drives the costs for insurance), and the large gap in wages and costs of living in most US cities. These problems have been patched to some extent over the last decade, but far from solved; and in fact it appears they both will worsen before getting better. I'd also add that a close 3rd is the large amount of influence wielded by large corporate interests and moneyed people in general over local, state, and federal governments. It also contributes heavily in the persistence of problems 1 and 2.

Honestly, the biggest problems in the U.S. anymore are the politically correct who think that everything they say and do should automatically be law, and anyone else is automatically wrong. The entire attitude anymore is that if something offends someone, it's inherently wrong and that it shouldn't exist. For example, there are plenty of people that are offended by violent video-games and feel that no-one should have them whatsoever. Rather than merely avoiding the things they dislike and promoting what they love, they choose to basically slam anyone who doesn't share their own opinions. That and religion has become a major issue anymore, since no-one is tolerant anymore.

Then there's the entire issue that no-one wants to be accountable anymore. Example I see a lot is that if a child does poorly in school, it's almost always the teacher's fault in the parents eyes. Rather than deal with the fact that maybe they're not raising their children right, they want to pass the buck onto someone else. Is it sometimes the educator's fault? Yes, and I'm the first to admit that since I've been on the receiving end of that. But overall, it's like parents are too afraid to admit that they might have done a poor job raising their children. Accountability is too far between anymore.

That and the entire issues with people not coming here in order to become citizens, but rather just coming here for the free stuff, like health-care or welfare, and basically giving anyone who is desperately in need of those things a bad name.

All in all, does the U.S. have problems? Yep, but what country/society doesn't?
BatFrog wrote:Also one thing I forgot to add was Call Of Duty and politics.
CoD isn't really the problem, it's how parents are allowing their children that are below the age of 18 to play them. The game is rated M for a reason. I play Black Ops II almost every day and I'm perfectly fine. Why? Because I'm an adult and able to comprehend that it's a damn game. Children/Pre-teens can't do that in most cases. Are there exceptions to that? Yep, and I was one of them, since I've been playing M games since I was about 9. But that's hardly uniform to everyone. Bottom line is that kids shouldn't be playing CoD/Battlefield or any other M rated game geared towards adults (or used to, in CoD's case.)

You're the only other person that I've met that realises this. Phew.

Anyway, other than politics, insurance is super expensive which is eh.

Car insurance is required, otherwise you're not allowed to drive.

I just don't like the fact that PC is overtaking everything in this country and is seeping into the Military. Other than that, there is definitely not enough Black Metal bands, but we are working on that. Haha!
