So, if you've been following up on what I've learned to do recently, you'll know that I learned how to model into jka and that I can use this knowledge to make new things, such as Swoops:

So, what I was thinking was:

KR SERVER SWOOP RACE

Hear me out guys. Imagine a set day in which we all, members and visitors alike, join a server (possibly KR2, we could change the pass and tell the public for one day), and either spectate or race.

The race map will be the one shown in the video above, and will consist of 3 laps per race.

You can bring your own swoop, use the default speeder bikes, or request me to give you one. The swoops I can give you, are one of these three types:





(Note, all swoops will have the same stats, so the swoop you bring may need to be modified by a moderator of the race to be accepted)

If you request a swoop from me, I can either edit the texture to your liking, or add on an extra decoration (ie. say you want a flag flowing behind your swoop, or if you want your swoop to have batman ears, etc.). Other default swoops will be the three shown swoops with no modifications.

The rules of the race are:
- 3 laps per race
- No switching swoops during a race
- No fighting before a race (for the swoops' sake, idc about you)
- Spectators must stand on the side lines during a race if not participating
- No one starts a race before the mark

If many people agree to go along with this idea, then we can start discussing dates, a place, and what swoops will be included...

So, why don't they have varying stats? The models look amazing and the idea is thrilling, but shouldn't the idea of different stats make the game more.. Exciting, I guess? I dunno, maybe I am credited JA as a racer game but it seems like a good idea.

I have always dreamt about some kind of race game for our clan. This looks so fun! Can we attack others racers in-race and drop bombs à la Crash Bandicoot?

@Thunder Well the current idea is that every swoop gets wp_blaster, but I'm open to suggestions that would be game-breaking.

@Frog that said, what do you recommend, since there are many factors which can greatly outweigh the others, like speed, boost speed, boost duration, boost regentime, turning speed, etc.

The first speeder should be inherently slower, able to make tighter turns, more durable, more controllable.
The second speeder should have the most inherent speed and fastest boost speed, but make for a poor control and very clumsy speed brat.
The third speeder should be inbetween with fair speed, fair turns and such. The '' Jack of all trades '' if you will.

^ This is if you don't involve weapons.

THIS is for if you DO.
The first one would be a more dramatic incarnation of it's previous; Having armor and slow speed, eating damage and being the Tank, with powerful weapons.
The second one would not contain much weaponry, perhaps a laser that could easily hit the target but lack credible damage. It could also have a long damage time.
It would of course be the fastest vehicle of them all.

The third, containing modest speed and turning capabilities, and also the fastest boost regen time, would have the most variety of weapons. Some mild blast damage but makes it up for many tools available for quick use. It could be replaced with gadgets, but I really have no idea what resources you have at the ready, so I will go for a simpler design.

But that is all a suggestion, maybe I play too many balanced games and be a control freak :S

I like the idea of all swoops having the same stats, then it's more about how you handle it than what your swoop can do. Same goes for weapons

After talking on the server with frog a bit, how about this:

Type I: Somewhat slow, medium handling, strong armour. Has tie-fighter fire.
Type II: Very fast, bad handling, weak armour. Blaster Rifle fire.
Type III: Medium speed, great handling, medium armour. Rocket lawn chair.
Gizka Swoop (wip): Medium speed, great handling, strong armour. No weapons.

My first ideas were as MasterM's, to have them all be the same and have it all be determined by the player's skill rather than their vehicle. I'm with whatever the majority likes.

I am really okay with either choice. If all the stats are the same I see it becoming more off a Mario Kart style of game, but if they are not then I see it becoming more of a.. Brawler/racer game.

As you can see, it is of the Type II category. This is an example of a texture edit and minor extra parts.

I'm keen too. Cannot find that speedway map. But I have a few others for you. would be a great way to finish of clan nights. Come for the gauntlet jawaball and LMS and tffa stay for the racing.

@Yama I found the map, and I think its

1.) too short
2.) too much tight corners / walls

Would get boring really quickly, as that map requires one to slow down for certain parts (especially with the crushers and buttons that need to be shot at to open the gates).

I've also decided that for balancing sake (and organization), it'd be best to only use swoops in this event for this event. Meaning your choices for swoops during the tournament would be either
Type I
Type II
Type III
Gizka
PodCar2 (The grey swoop seen in t3_rouge [hope I got the map name right] )
or
Prototype

Unless you have an specific suggestions, and many people agree to that.

A brief, related story: Last night we played on t1_danger (the sp map with the man-eating worms...sans the man-eating worms). We ffa'ed using the map's swoops, both against other swoops, and those brave enough to be on-foot. It was amazing. Everyone had a ridiculous ball.

Sabering opponents from the swoop traveling crazy fast. Firing blasts at on-foot players. Blowing up swoops. Being blown up by swoops. I'd like to straight up throw this idea at the wall and see what sticks. Does this have a place here? Any ideas?

How about we just put that map into rotation <3?

Oh I see Shink, you asked for t1_danger to be added on map rotation on KR1, if that what you recalled ?

I think there's a possibilities, if many people have speak up that they want a new map add to the rotations, then there will be a chances.

Alright, so I finalized what swoops will be in the tournament, and what their stats are:








@shink In the map that I have, (it can be seen in the video at the top of this topic) there is a big spot for a FFA swoop battle right before the starting line, I was actually thinking that after the race is done, we could have an FFA as a finishing thing for people who want to remain at the event after it's done.

(opinions on swoops and their stats btw?)

Now that the swoops are pretty much done, we need two more things.

1.) Location.
Where will this be held? I was thinking KR2, but we'd need council permission to host it there. Since I want this event to be open to visitors as well, I was thinking that for that one day every month the pass to KR2 could be changed to something like swoopentry or something, then reset the next day. That or someone might know of a way to host a server for a day or something idk.

2.) Time.
When will it be held? I was thinking we could use this topic as a way to hold votes as to what day of the month and what time during that day it would be held.

(Also a reminder, even though these are the only swoops in the tournament, requests for special individual swoops are available, ie. the mandalorian swoop bike edit of Type II I showed earlier)
