This has been pretty big news online recently, but in case you missed it, people are stealing data en masse from websites (what else is new?).

Basically here's how it works:

Naturally this leads to leaked passwords and all sorts of bad stuff. Websites are starting to patch things up, for more about that see this: http://mashable.com/2014/04/09/heartble ... -affected/

The gist of all this is that you should change your passwords on any affected site...like right now. All things aside, it's a good idea to change them relatively often anyway, just to be safe.

Correction: the gist is you change your passwords for the affected sites *after* they've patched it.

Hehe, when I saw the title of the thread I figured I should post the xkcd comic...!

For anyone using Chrome there is also this site checker: -

Other browsers probably have an extention like this too.

Beat you to it :P

Right, I thought the link I put in showed which sites have patched it so far, so I meant patch the ones that were fixed. Obviously don't bother until it is; bailing water out of a sinking ship won't help if there's still a hole in the floor.

Personally not that worried about it. This is what fraud protection is for.

Not to mention account recoverys.

Thanks for the warning though!
