For some of you who are pokéhaters
. Most of you already seen the Cat screenshots shown from the JKA-Stair Case topic, so no need to show them here. EDIT: Fine, I'll get some screenshots from the original Cat maker
.
Cat/Kot:

Now for the Pikachu skin, since many of you have possibly never seen it, and want to get a look at it before downloading, there will be pictures under the download link:
Pikachu (and mini Yodamaul version):

A pokéhater? I've never heard of such a thing! Doesn't exist.
That would be like saying "I hate goodness".

A Pikachu is an eletric mouse part of creatures know as Pokémon. This eletric mouse gathers energy using the two red pulses on its cheeks and releases them to stun its preditor. Pikachus normally live around empty fields, though can be found in cities scavenging food.

Ok, I've been getting complaints on 4shared, apparently people don't know how to tell site buttons apart from ads. So, here is a minitorial:
Click on the link, then press this button:
Once you press that, you press this button (Note, you will have to wait 20 seconds. Worth it since the files last forever):
Once you do that you have two options:
ENJOY >:O. Hope it works

Ok, so, in console I do
/model kot
And I see Kyle...
Does this model work for anyone else? I'd be surprised though, considering a few required files are missing (like for instance the .skin ones).
Obviously the skin will work if the whole skinpack it came from is loaded - because its getting those needed files from there.

JAWA had the same problem. I fixed it for him by making him put the files from the .pk3s into the very last pk3 in his gamedata/base folder. For example:
In my case, the last pk3 would be zzzzzz_BaseCustom.pk3, so, I'd extract all the contents from kot.pk3 or pikachu.pk3 into zzzzzz_BaseCustom.pk3. I'm not sure what causes this problem, this problem didn't occur to me when I put in the .pk3s. Although I did have a problem like this with other skins. What I'm guessing, is that when put in the last .pk3 JA reads them better, because when adding all the .pk3s from base it adds them in order, so the last would be the most "fresh" so to speak. I told JAWA to do this, and he has confirmed it worked. Not sure why it happens though. It didn't happen to me.

That just means its conflicting with an existing skin. By putting zzzz's in means it just stops conflicting because it gets overwritten by the pack (pk3.'s load in reverse alphabetical order).
But just to be sure, I got a brand new install, put only the 1 .pk3 file in, kot.pk3, and did /model kot which still did not work, because there is no .skin file - it is impossible to have a model without the skin for the image mapping.
If someone can put a link to the original pack I'll extract the kot for a stand-alone pk3.

I can Skype it to you / anyone who wants the original pk3. file from the JAWA skin pack. (the pk3. size is about 9-10 mb)

Trust me, JAWA had the same problem and putting it on the bottom worked. And I re-checked the file, there is a .skin file named "model_default.skin". I checked both the links, they are supposed to work perfectly.

If I have only one (1) custom skin in my whole game, and it doesn't load, then something is wrong with it. A skin cannot work without its model_default.skin file. zzzzzz loads first so any errors it has will get fixed any another subsequent skins loaded after that (filling in the gaps as it were). Directly from the source code: -
Code: Select allTo save disk space and speed loading, directory trees can be collapsed into zip files.
The files use a ".pk3" extension to prevent users from unzipping them accidentally, but
otherwise the are simply normal uncompressed zip files. A game directory can have multiple
zip files of the form "pak0.pk3", "pak1.pk3", etc. Zip files are searched in decending order
from the highest number to the lowest, and will always take precedence over the filesystem.
This allows a pk3 distributed as a patch to override all existing data.
https://github.com/Razish/OpenJK/blob/m ... common.cpp from line 62.
This happens to be something I actually know about!
Waiting on the Skype transfer

This photo was taken directly from the download's pk3:
The only .skin files missing are the red team and blue team, which aren't nesessary.
Anyways, if you don't want this version, then be it. Here is an extracted JAWA shadow.pk3 which has the kot and pikachu skins in it, along with all of Shadow's skins:
http://www.4shared.com/file/Q63fgiti/JAWA_Shadow.html
This here's the real McCoy. This is the exact pk3 taken out of the JAWA skin pack. No modifications or anything.

So I thought to have another go at the custom model. Brand new JKA install (again) and it still didn't work.
I downloaded the jawashadow and rebuilt the kot and pikachu myself - and mine works. You don't need to rename it, it's compatible with (and won't interfere with) jawashadow.
The thing is, all the files in the original were right, it's just the kind of zip compression chosen which was wrong. I'd say it was made with 7Z and whoever has 7Z installed and custom integrated into their OS the original skin may just work (I have it installed but I don't allow it access to my OS).
You can get my working version from: -
http://jawfin.net/jka/kot.pk3 which goes into base, as per normal.
