So, I'm looking into buying an mp3 player. I've looked at a whole bunch of different styles and brands, and read a shitload of consumer and editor reviews.

Now I'm trying to get opinions a different way. >.>

Do any of you have an mp3 player? And if so what brand? What do you think of it? Is it a piece of crap? :P

Anyone who responds to this will recieve bucketloads of love. <3

im not sure wut Angel is talkin about but it sounds good. i went ipod but there are 2 things rong with it. 1, they get outdated faster than it takes to send the songs down the USB cable. 2, they are some of the most stubborn peices of shit ive ever seen, they only work with itunes, if u have more than 1 user account they all interfere with it, and u cant get mp3s from different comps (unless u have the ipod shuffle, witch is usinversal plug n play, so it doesnt conflict and it can work with multiple computers)

the good thing is that apple makes them well, they are strudy and hold up well. my friend lost his in the ocean, found it, and was able to listen to it on the way home from the beach. they however do not hold up to skiing accidents, too many cracked screens. they also hold photos and videos (if u get the video model0 which is pretty cool.

i went shuffl;e cuz it was only 80, holds 250 songs and is very sturdy, and has a bbuilt in clip.

so it really comes down to choice, so idk wut u might need it for, list out ur personal needs and i can recomend different mp3s

I have an older model iPod myself. I've had it for 2 'n a half years or so now, and it works pretty flawlessly. I've never had a problem, and I love the thing to death. You don't have to use iTunes, either. There's a program called Anapod that works wonders, plus you can grab a Firewire cable instead of a USB and it transfers a bagillion times faster. You can also use Anapod to take songs off your iPod, which is great if you keep a copy of songs on your computer, and you had a friend transfer some songs to your mp3 player that you like a lot. I also use it as a 20 GB flash drive constantly in college, and don't know what I'd do without it. Audio quality wise, I hear that Creative has some great stuff, although I doubt you'll notice much difference. iPods are also showing up in more areas of compatibility (car stereos, docking stations, etc... ). My buddy has a Zen or whatever, and it's pretty nice, although I think he wants an iPod due to some restrictions with using it as an external drive.

I dont think theres any restrictiosn in using it as an external drive since I borrowed my brothers when I needed something to transfer some data to a stand alone pc. Stranegely enough he has a 60GB IPod Video which he got for free..

personally I do not mind the iPod, although I do think that there are better products out there. I have heard people (apple maniacs who hate anything non apple) suggest that converting songs or burning to a cd then copying back.. However I say to them "If that was Sony or Microsoft would you accept that? no you would moan like hell"..

But for all intensive purposes an iPod may be just fine for you, it is a well packaged established product, I just don't think they are the be and end all.. Zens are pretty good, and I hear (although never used one) than SandDisks.

Its been along time since i looked at the actualy players and compared but at the time I did the iRivier seems miles better, but wasnt as compact..

I suggest you go to a store look at some and see which ones grab in the hole thing you then see where you can get the one you want cheaply

iPod nano's are like a no no, loads of people I kno have broken them by sitting on them accidently, the new iPod shuffle is stupidly small and you will probably lose it up your own ass >_>

Personally I would go for a Zen (Creative) I do not own one... yet but my mates have them and they are pretty cool i think.

*note* I also like bucketloads of love but am not fussed XD

shuffle is great because u wont lose it cuz of the clip, and even if its in ur pocket it stays there. its like a couple of quaters, u always have a place for them and they never leave that spot till u need em. plus the clip adds extra security

I still say lots of people are going to lose them.

o that reminds me of this cd player thing i saw. it comes with special storing CDs that store aboutn 200 mp3s per cd and it works pretty well. they arent as expensive, but then u have toorry about cd scratching and im sure burning takes forever....

So much love to Wing and Saunby! Because they asked for it. >.> But everyone else deserves it too. *buries the entire thread in love*

So yes... >.> I posted this and then went on vaca for a few days and just remembered to look at it. ^_^ I've looked at a few peoples ipods and wasn't overly impressed. I also decided that 20GB was too much space for even me, as Darko pointed out. :P And I also loked at a friends Creative Zen, but I couldn't figure out if you could make playlists or not, or even divide songs by CD. I almost got the new Creative V, but I read the reviews on Amazon, and there were too many people complaining about possible problems, so I decided against it, even though I had a $20 off coupon to staples! :x

This is the one I ended up getting.

Staples.com

It's the Sandisk Sansa e250. It's 2GB and holds a little more than 500 songs, has video and photo capabilities, which I didn't really need... and is wicked cute. >.>;;;

:P Thank you for your comments guys. They backed up my decision!

Love!

Yeah Sandisk is one of te ones I recommended earlier, never used one myself but heard its good.

Personally In myopinion you made a good choice, while I think iPods are goodcut clear product I feel you pay top dollar for an "average" product.

Thanks for the love =D

2gb is good really cause you can always change the tracks that are on it. I really dont see the point of having like 30gb cause you will never use it all XD

I use majority of my 20 gigs for transferring CD images. :)

Yeah I agree a large player is not only a music player its also useful for data transfer.

However I know some people who fill their 20GB with music.. they simply put their entire collection on.

Screw iPod. Theyre a piece of junk and overrated and expensive.
Get one from the Creative brand.
If you want one with a nice view screen and video and pictures and all of that, get the Creative Zen Plus.
If you want just a normal MP3, pretty much built for convienency and portability, get the Creative MuVo...or anything from that line.

I wouldnt go as far as saying that, but i would afree they are a bit overated.
