The human race (no...not just 'Merica) has once again landed a rover on Mars! This time it's the Curiosity Mars Rover! She touched down at about 10:29 PDT and it was AWESOME! I was lucky enough to watch it all go down live on Ustream. I was in tears even though I had nothing to do with it personally.
I read a quote from someone in the chat on the side that was all too true. "The Olympics show off the strength and endurance of individuals from countries all over the world. This event is for humankind as a whole." Not a direct quote, but you all get the point I hope. 
Anyway, it was wicked rad.
Now if the United States would put the trillions of dollars we spend on defense into our space programs instead of a few billion, we would be able to do so much more for the human race.
