Sennheiser HD 555

I am looking for "bad" reviews on this headphone. I've been browsing youtube, random netshop web-sites and so on. I fail to find something "bad worth mentioning".

If anyone care to do so; Please assist me in adding more cons to this! ANY reason NOT TO BUY this is good enough!

CONS:
Not water proof
Not lava proof
Not road proof (car can easily break it by driving over it)
It's not free
Having to wait for it to arrive

This is a case of where you're trying to justify something, you want it but something is either telling you not just yet or something.

Ultimateley you may think about it and look at many articles.. then buy it anyway.

I am the same, I do that for ages, try to justify it, look at reiviews put it off and inevitably buy it anyway

In this case the other way around, it seemed to good to be true! The perfect headphones!

If you're really looking for a good pair of headphones in terms of sound and comfort within that price range I'd recommend Sony's studio Monitor MDR-V700DJ. I use these in my studio for recordings and they are by far the best pair of headphones I've ever owned. The 5Hz-30KHz frequency response provides far more Superior lows and highs than the hd555's. The hinge lever design for the headband tends to hug your ears rather than press against them like most other headphones. I could literally wear these all day long and not feel any discomfort what so ever.

What I like about Sony's:
Silver finish, that would be neat, just to make it look good.
And I must admit, 5kHz - 30kHz "looks" nice, but I'm not sure if I would be able to hear the difference... Probably nice for playing sound effects!

What I like about HD555:
I don't know. It just feels right.

It all comes down to your listening pleasure.

Open cans such as the hd 555's produce a more natural acoustic sound. The downside being sound leakage, both in and out, which can be a problem in noisy environments, such as loud pc fans in your case..

Closed cans like the MDR-V700DJ filter out most of the external noises in your environment and provide a more bass rich sound which is excellent for bass strong music, games, action movies. This is the reason why professional dj's, sound producers and musicians use these headsets.

If you read any bad review on the MDR-V700DJ's you'll notice it has nothing to do with the sound but instead with the hinges breaking. This is a result of poor handling or use in active environments, such as clubs, live shows or outdoors. Casing point, I've had mine for over a year now and have not had any issues with the sound or construction. Take proper care like all other expensive equipment and it will last.
