Another question for you all! Posed by your favorite Phreedom Phighter...

I read a lot of comic books (DC > Marvel Just throwin it out there) and watch lots of movies n shows and stuff. I love the development of antagonists. So I come to pose a question. Who is/are the best antagonist(s) you have seen or heard of or w/e. And by what standard (in other words: Why?)

It can be a guy (or girl or thing or idea) from comics, books, movies, shows, etc or RL for that matter.

Mine:

Joker from The Batman Series: Lovely lunatic, started out like the rest of us (depends on the series u read). Just because of one bad day he becomes this insane maniac whose body count rivals most military factions.

Darth Vader: Who doesnt love this guy? He starts out as a child of prophecy and turns to the dark side. Throughout his entire lifetime he has some sort of internal conflict in him. In the beginning its just the simple should-I-leave-my-mother-to-go-be-a-jedi, then the living a lie and marrying Padme. Moves to whether he should stay a jedi or join the dark side to save padme, u all should know this so ill stop there.

Ill try 2 post more as i think of em

For video games, I would have to choose Sephiroth. Typical, I know, but he has two things going for him in my book:

1) He thinks himself a God, and a righteous one at that, exacting revenge on humankind for the virtual extinction of the Cetra (god-like beings). This shows he is off his rocker, absolutely crazy while otherwise maintaining a somewhat normal persona (well normal as in he isn't talking about how squirrels will take over the world).

2) He is strong enough to back up the claim, the most famed and lethal member of SOLDIER and has come back from the "dead" several times. He may seem crazy by claiming he is a god, but when he consistently returns from scenarios that would kill any normal being, even a very powerful being, then those claims start getting scary. Even when he is defeated, he says things like, "I will never be a memory," meaning he will come back.

On top of that, he is scarily dedicated to his mission, determined to use the entire planet for his own twisted will and asking his enemies what the most precious thing to them is so that he "may take it away from them." He is cold yet passionate about his twisted plan, always an air of crazy and class about him. He is calm and yet bemused by the bloodshed and terror he wreaks, as if he was playing a game that only mildly holds his interest.

I'll think of my favorite movie antagonist later.

My favorite. Ever, in anything:

The Self. Reasons?

You are your own enemy. The greatest battle you will ever have will be against your self. The dark side of the self is what keeps the good side as good as it is.

Antagonist in : Ethan Frome (book), Lord of the Flies (Book) Everything Batman except the 1960's. Star Wars (movies) and many, many more.

Not sure what atagonist mean's but im assuming a kind of insane villian thing so mine would have to be " The master" from the series doctor who, The master is one of the last of the time lord's absoloutly brilliant mind but is amazingly insane, He hears a constant drum beat of 4 in his head which in the episode the " end of time" Turn's out to be his own heartbeat sent back through time by his own people to attempt to ressurect themselve's The master has appeared many time's and many time's he has taken any means at his disposal to ensure his own survival, he has conquered earth and been foiled once, in his last episode his regeneration went horribly wrong and he ended up draining his own life force, His last actions were honourable yet violent - He struck out at the overlord of the timelord's Screaming " You made me! 1 2 3 4!" buying enough time for the timelock which sealed the Time lords within the time war to be reinitiated, In his last action's he saved his childhood friend and mortal enemy the doctor :P

Vihawk, you took the word 'antagonist' a bit too far. It simply means 'bad guy' the obstruction in the protagonist's (good guy's) way.

And could some1 please delete my double post, idk why my pc likes to do that.
