The beginning of the end

Thought I'd try my hand at a story. Mind you.. this will take weeks to finish so if your interetsed in it.. give me time. Anyway, here it is.
---------------------------------

It’s a difficult thing to separate the starting points of events. While some items in history have clear beginnings.. others do not. Some, simply exist outside of time.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - -
The force lives within us and all around us. Every being in the Universe has been touched by the force throughout time though some have been touched in special ways. We seem to distinguish two main historic lines in reference to the force, the light and the dark… the Jedi and the Sith. If this was all their was, the story would be simple.. this story would be known by all. Unfortunately, there are other forces in this existence waiting.. biding their time to reclaim what once was theirs, and maybe.. will be again.

They were waiting. Sitting in the ashes on Mustafar. It seemed ironic to LK that once a great duel took place not far from their current location, and now… they find them selves back on this desolate planet choking on the suit and heat in so few numbers, so very few. The great duel between Anakin and Obiwan was etched in all Jedi’s minds; they struggle was taught to all the younglings. Every jump.. every slash and counter of their sabers were used to distinguish between power and skill. Anakin was more powerful while Obiwan was an pure expert in the basic use of a saber. It was true.. skill and technique out matched brute force. This was a good thing, because LK knew in the battle coming to them, their was no contest in power.. they were out matched. Skill would need to get them through, because that’s all that was left.

Lk looked around to take stock in their current situation. To his right sitting up against a rock was Tidus and Pyra.. Both had competed against each other to extremes in the old days at the academy. One was always trying to one up the other. Sure, it was good natured competition, but they also helped push each other to acquire skills rarely seen these days. Jawfin, after being voted to lead the new Jedi order once Luke had disappeared, always took great care with the Jedi and their levels of competency in all areas. It had to be difficult for him being thrust into such a position.. having deal with not only the entire Jedi order, but at the time the search for Skywalker and the very investigation which led to his disappearance.

His disappearance.. such thoughts pained LK to even consider it. Luke was headstrong.. a great leader.. and expert in the force.. but headstrong. A week before his disappearance Luke assembled the Jedi Master’s into his private quarters. He advised that word has reached him that strange disappearances were taking place on the outer lying systems. He also advised that it was reported that some of these instances came with sightings of force users unknown to the Jedi. After much debate, Luke stated that he and he alone would travel to these areas to investigate. He would hear no arguments after he said this and appointed Jawfin, the second in command to lead in his absence. Some left the room… but others remained behind. There were 7 Master’s who did not leave. Tidus, Pyra, Necros, Ahsoka, AJ, Evan, and LK. Luked looked at us and sighed.

“I’m so sorry my brother’s and sisters, but this is not a mission that you were meant to complete.” Luke said.
“Luke, what is going on that would require you to handle it yourself?” Evan said looking bother determined to get and answer yet apologetic for disobeying Luke by continuing the conversation.
“I know all of you have many questions, but what you nned to know is this. I have felt tremors in the force, really for years. They began faint, but steadily have grown stronger over time. It feels like nothing I’ve ever felt and these days, feels incredibly strong. You should also know that I have been contacted by Falcon” Luke said with his head down.
“Falcon! The leader of the Sith!? When she’s around, you know Greed and Broke are not far behind” Pyra said under great strain.
“The same Pyra. Falcon has been able to fill in some of the gaps because this new threat may be targeting not only Jedi, but Sith as well.”

“There are Sith legends going back thousands of years. One of these tells a tale of two force users, Fazz and Rugg.” Luke said as he sat down wearily.
“The story. Or fable.. tells that these two brother’s founded what has evolved into both the sith and jedi orders. But whats more interesting, is they came from the region of myst bordering our Universe.” Luke continued.
“The Myst… that’s not possible. We have never been able to penetrate that area of space with ships or with probes; nothing ever comes back.” AJ said.
“I’m aware of that AJ. But still, the story talks about a great and terrible civilization beyond the Myst.. One where supposedly… the idea of Jedi and Sith do not exist.” Said Luke.
“You mean like Rogue Jedi? Well as you know we have those here as well. Always seeking a balance between the light and the Dark. Master Windu was one at one point..” Said Ahsoka tensely.
“No Ashoka. Not Rogue but something else. Legend says that this Force power they use is not based on our own. It is another power, something menacing.. something powerful.” Luke said standing up again.
“I will be leaving tomorrow morning. I will contact you all within the week. Do not come looking for me, and do not take chances. At the first hint of trouble, mobilize the Jedi order and seek safety for yourselves, and all the people we protect. You may also be contacted by Falcon, but this is unclear.” Luke said as he walked us to the door.

Luke never did contact us though. We waited but heard nothing more. In any case, nothing was the same from that point on. Not long after, the first clear appearance of the cause of the problems was seen. Reports came in scattered at first. A single massive black ship with unknown markings appeared. No one knew where it came from or who it represented. The question would be, are they hostile or friendly. That question was answered far to quickly. Planet after planet fell to this new threat. The non-force users fell by the millions, and they left little in their wake. The few Jedi who were stationed in those areas were never heard from again. We always talk about feeling tremors in the force. Not with this.. not by far. What we felt were earthquakes.

They say conflict and strife makes odd bedfellows. We found this to be true as well. The only ally we were able to muster were the Remnant.. the order of the Sith. The enemy of my enemy is my friend? We shall see in the end, but right now, with our numbers dwindling, what choice did we have. It was join forces, or embrace extinction sooner rather than later. The struggle between the Jedi and Sith was over. This was a battle of survival.

Falcon was not what most of us expected. It is true that passion was the dominate force motivating her choices, but nothing she did was haphazard. She had a steely intellect that considered every detail. She was strict with her subjects, but not overly controlling or domineering. If I had to compare her to someone, I would say she resembled Anakin in the early days. Intelligent.. caring.. a inner hunger to merge Jedi beliefs with those of pride and passion. Her lieutenants was another matter entirely. Greed was savage in his actions. He made Ragnos look like a pussycat in comparison. He was cold and efficient; if it meant killing hundreds of innocent people to complete his task, so be it. The only person who could stay his hand was Falcon.. nobody else. Her other Lieutenant was Broke. Broke never spoke.. never uttered a sound. He was what I would consider the ultimate assassin. He was probably responsible for the deaths of over 30 Jedi over the last 5 years, and to date, he had never failed a mission.

To be continued…
