EDIT: o wait raven, this is just basic pen tool...i thought it would have been like shere options or something to mess with lines your create.. but yea this stuff is good with the pen tooll

Yep, it's just using the pen tool. I've never had a reason to use it, but I've heard of things called "paths" and "defining a path"; mainly from those “How To” books about Photoshop. But, for some reason, every Photoshop help book I happen to skim through (which is one back in college and like maybe 3 at Barnes and Noble back in the day) would always have these kinds of tuts like 10 pages long, and even then that's to do one action.
I don’t need to read 10 pages, just tell me how to do it
This tut was simple, easy, and shows how to do other effects (basic ya but still good) besides just the pen tool.
The Pen tool has just been around for a long time but yet not many Photoshop users (at least the ones I know) even think about using it, much less know what it is capable of.
I hate Photoshop books, let a friend teach you or learn it on your own through experimenting (or tuts online like this one)

Ah, for that just change the brush tool to a different brush when executing a path.
