Anyone got one of these by any chance? rather than do pointless searches for rigged bench tests they seem well

good for an ATI/AMD card.. seems better than Nvidias current offerings even houg nvidia are going to bring new cards out soon..

Plus half the price.. just wanted to know if anyone actually had one.

Maximum PC which is a pretty good reviewer gave it an 8. Apparently it's not as good as the 8800 GTX or 8800 Ultra, but is good for the money.

Review:

+:
Relatively quiet and power efficient; offloads video-decoding chores from the host cpu.

-:
Currently delivers no performance scaling with the most demanding game on the market today(Crysis).

Scores (Windows XP):
Crysis - 23.1
Unreal Tournament 3: 86.5

Be careful are you sure your looking at 3870 or

3870 x 2

which so far has pissed all over any 8800 card by most of what i can see since it is two chips on one card

Its odd

3870 x 2 at the minute looks like it could have taken the crown on nVidia which is a good thing for competition.

Nvidia are releasing their equivalent card in the next two weeks

9800 Gx2 which like teh Ati is a dual chip card.

SO far tests and benchmarks up till now suggest that the ATi is actually faster in some tests or just behind in others.. Things like Crysis Nvidia are optomised for.

What I do not get is

ATI/AMD 3870x2 £250 around
NVIDIA 9800 GX2 £400 estimated..

and ATI have a new card out soon

I am thinking of jumping ship now!

Actually, that was a review of the 3870x2. I don't care much for hardware. My 2600xt works just fine.

Thanks

The test doesnt say what they actually tested at .. like res and setting

you see its confusing since the card is new they only just released new drivers for it

what most benchmarks seems to indicate so far at lower re and lesser settings teh 8800 Ultra matches it for speed...

turn it up a bit and the 3870 x 2 kills it and teh 8800s drop off massively.

and it also is just under teh speed of nvidias new equivalent yet faster han the singel core new card..

Except.. its cheaper than both the new dual chip card by considerale amounts and cheaper than teh 8800 ultra and 9800 gtx..

I for a long time have had Nvidia but now it seems for much less price you can have perhaps the best if not 2nd best card out there..

Not sure why id spend anotehr £150 for an extra few FPS :?
