A Lost Jedi
He woke up and bolted up right with sweat on his forehead. Woken by a distant memory of his past. Confused and disorientated, Sparky looked round his room full of trinkets of his past back from battles as a Jedi. Sparky raised his battle worn hands to his face rubbing his eyes, trying to make sense of his nightmare. The scream still echoed in his mind. A scream he had never forgotten. Sparky shuffled out of his bed. He staggered towards the sink where he ran cold water out of the tap. He bent down and washed cold water over his face. He stopped and looked at his face which he could see had seen the blood and gore of his past. “If only I listened.” He thought. “Why did I follow them? Where was my own wisdom?” Sparky edged away from the sink back on to his bed. Suddenly there was a knock on the door. “Captain, we found something…” a voice said. Sparky walked to the door and opened it. “What is it ensign?” Sparky replied. “We think it is jedi artifact of some kind…” the ensign said. “Why ask me? Why don’t you tell the general? I don’t deal with the force no longer since the council…” Sparky’s voice drifted away as his eyes looked vacant at the ensign. The ensign looked puzzled “Is everything alright sir?” Sparky snapped back into reality “Yes, sorry… I was daydreaming. Come ensign, show me this artefact.” Sparky commanded.
“Are you sure you up to this sir?” The ensign asked. “Do I have a choice? Do we have a choice in our destinies ensign?” “I don’t know sir” The ensign replied. The ensign opened the cargo bay door. Sparky walked in. On a table there was a box with what seemed to come from the Jedi Civil War. Sparky recognised the markings of the Jedi Order back then under the leadership of Grand Master Zanther. “What is it sir?” the ensign asked. “It seems to be a box from the Jedi Civil War” Sparky replied. “I read about it back in the day. It was a horrific war.” The ensign continued to press “So what you think is in the box?” Sparky turned round and looked at the ensign as if he was to look at a six year old. “Leave me ensign, this could be a dangerous artefact” Without question the ensign left the cargo bay. Sparky turned back to the box. As he touched the box he felt a surge… as if power coupling had been turned on. It’s a feeling he had not felt before, but this did not deter him. He opened the box. Sparky could not believe it. It was a relic from his past… a past he tried to forget. “I thought I left you back at the council chamber” Sparky said to himself. The artefact in the box was his lightsaber. His lightsaber still had the markings on the hilt from the order he belonged too. He remembered the day which saw his end to the force…
“Bring the fallen one in.” Sparky walked into the council chamber. He knew what was about to happen. He was afraid as he approached them. The people in front of him were all the people he trained and trained with. His stomach was churning. He could feel the Jedi Masters eyes burn into his physical being. “Sparky, do you know why you are here before us?” said Jedi Master Ronin. “Yes I do” Sparky replied. Jedi Master Fluffy said “So you know how difficult this decision was. Because of what you have done you have put all of the order in danger.” Sparky hung his head in reply.
“We could of given you the ultimate punishment for what you did, Sparky” Fluffy continued. “Going to war without our consent as a council is punishable by death. But what would that have taught our future generations. Your case is unique as you had fallen to the darkside…” Sparky interjected “I did not fall to the darkside. I did what I thought was right at the time…” “Silence!” Fluffy commanded “You have brought wound to the force. You made millions suffer… innocents died because of your actions and many jedi lost due to your teachings. Lots of young jedi who followed you, lost their path from the light.” Sparky moved his eyes to one of the other council members. A master who he watched grow and had feelings for. He could see that Lessa’s face was full of torment. Sparky could sense the pain that she was feeling. Sparky’s heart was broken at that point. “Sparky… you may have come back for redemption…” “Redemption… REDEMPTION!” Sparky snapped in protest. “I do not need redemption. I came back to answer for my crimes. I have shown remorse and the only thing that the council can see is redemption? Everything I did was meant for the best interests of the order. We take an oath to protect the galaxy from the forces of evil and darkness.” “That’s enough!” Fluffy commanded. “We as a council have decided. Sparky you are here by ordered to leave the order. We will not strip you of the force, but you must leave your lightsaber.” Sparky said “Fine, have it your way…” Sparky took out his lightsaber from his side. He turned and headed for the door. “The saber Sparky…” Fluffy demanded “You will not leave here with that lightsaber.” Sparky ignited the green blade from the hilt of his lightsaber and charged at Fluffy. Fluffy jumped out of her seat doing a back flip with her saber switched on showing the purple blade. Ready for battle. But Sparky slammed the blade into Fluffy’s seat. “There you go almighty master… my lightsaber, I hope you regret your decision in years to come.” Sparky said sarcastically in anger “Be sure to put it in a display case saying Sparky the disgraced Jedi Master…” “Sparky… Don’t do this.” Lessa screamed at him with tears. “Just leave… do not make this anymore difficult than it is.” Sparky thought for a second. He turned round and looked at Lessa’s face which he would never forget that day. The pain, the suffering, the upset of Lessa beautiful young face. Sparky’s anger faded away. He was hurt. “One day Fluffy, One day” Sparky threatened. Sparky started to head towards the door and as he did he stopped at Lessa. He whispered in Lessa’s ear “I am sorry my love.” As he did Lessa looked at him with her teary face. All red with anger and heartache. Sparky would never forget that day…
Chapter 2: The reconnection...
Sparky could not believe his eyes. The lightsaber in the box brought back so much nostalgia from his days in the Jedi Order. It’s been thirteen years since he was outcast by the Jedi Council. In his mind the images flashed of when he broke the one he loves heart, on that day of pain and reckoning. He can still taste the blood of the war he was drawn into. His mind switched to the images of the dead corpses all around him. He could still hear the screams. He could see a hooded figure in the distance. It called his name. The voice sounded familiar, but it was motionless. He approached the hooded figure, trying to identify the person. “You know who I am…” The hooded figure said. “… I was there with you.” “With me where?” Sparky said. The figure ignored his question. “Being an outcast of the Jedi Order you seem stronger than before, yet you no longer use the force as your ally.” Sparky more confused than ever nervously said “I command you to tell me who you are, what do you want with me?” The hooded figure said “Do not be afraid, I am here to show you the way back onto the path…” Sparky stepped closer “Are you a Sith? A figment of my imagination?” The hooded figure chuckled “Sith…Jedi? Does it matter so much? You’re an exile of the order and you still care whether I am a Jedi or Sith.” “Humour me” Sparky retorted. “Show yourself!” “Oh exile… you have a lot to learn still.” The hooded figure responded. “What will you do exile? Strike me down where I stand?” Sparky thought for a moment. I must be in some sort of vision. But how? I cut myself off from the force 13 years ago. Sparky repeated his question “So who are you? What do you want?” The hooded figure answered his question this time “I am someone from your past. I passed away along time ago. I come to warn you.” “Warn me about what?” Sparky asked. “The Jedi and the New Republic is in danger. You have been one of the chosen to undertake a very fragile task.” The hooded figure replied. “The Jedi Order needs you…” Sparky interjected “They don’t need me, they cast me out a long time ago. I lost everything” “That you did and that you had. But someone need you in the Jedi Order. I told you what you need to know. The question is will you be able to lose everything again for the sake of the future of the galaxy…” “What do you mean?” Sparky said. Another voice out of nowhere said “Sparky… Wake up!”
“Sir, are you ok?” Sparky opened his eyes. He started to get up. “Are you ok, Captain?” Sparky looked at the ensign. “What happened ensign?” “Sorry sir I was watching on the monitor outside…” Sparky grabbed the arm of the ensign. “What happened?” The ensign replied “Well one moment you were looking into the box and then you fell to the floor.” Sparky took a deep breath. He started to get up but he felt a sharp pain in his back. “Careful, sir! You took a nasty fall.” Sparky rubbed his back and looked at the ensign “Thank you, ensign.” Sparky knew that he definitely was in some sort of trance within the force. He was trying to get his bearings back slowly. “So why did you fall? You were glowing for a while but the med bot could not work out why.” Sparky looked to him “Ensign, I think I was in some sort of trance. To be honest I don’t wanna talk about it.” Sparky stood to his feet. As he stood up he felt something has changed in him. He had the feeling of lightness. As if he was able to fly away. He thought, “That’s weird. I have not felt like this since…” Sparky turned to the ensign. “Ensign, could u pick up that lightsaber out of the box and hold it in a open hand.” The ensign was confused “Sir?” “Ensign, just trust me. It won’t hurt you!” Sparky answered. The ensign approached the box and he slowly reached out for the lightsaber to pick it up. The ensign picked up the lightsaber and did what was instructed. “Ensign, stand still.” Sparky commanded. “But…” The ensign argued. “Stand still!” Sparky barked. Sparky raised his open hand towards the ensign and cleared his mind. He tried to remember the teaching of the Jedi techniques. As he did this he concentrated on the lightsaber. Feeling the metal course through the force of the lightsaber. He then tried to grab the saber in his mind. As he did the lightsaber started to hover. It travelled to Sparky as if it was a dog playing fetch. Sparky could not believe it! His connection with the force had been reconnected. He could feelthe force empower him in his body. He could hear and see the universe. He felt stronger than ever. He could feel the engines of the ship, the sonar of the radar, the heartbeats of all the souls on the ship. He tried to reach out into the galaxy… to his one true love. He could feel her life force but it was faint. The ensign interrupted Sparky’s concentration. “Sir… your glowing again.” Sparky replied calmly, “Its ok ensign, its normal. I am becoming one with the force again.” Then Sparky snapped out of concentration. “Ensign, tell the general I must go. Some one needs me on Dantooine.” The confused ensign said “Aye, sir!” With that Sparky left for the shuttle to go in search of the fading jedi…
Chapter 3: Out of the frying pan...
It has been two hours since Sparky left the New Republic fleet. Sparky set the shuttle on autopilot for Dantooine so he could get changed out of his Republic Naval uniform. Sparky joined the Republic Navy after he was exiled from the Jedi Order. It was a way for him to help the galaxy. The Republic took him in to the ranks of the navy because of his impressive skill of space naval combat. He has received numerous honours but Sparky never cared about honour or medals of war. Sparky went into his quarters. He went to the footlocker at the end of his bed. He bent down to open the combination. The lock clicked and Sparky opened the door slowly. Inside was all his possessions from back in the day. The first thing he saw was his old Jedi Master robe. His master handed these to him when he was a Padawan. He remembered the words of his master. “…The force will be with you always, Sparky.” Sparky thought to himself “ Your wrong master… the force had left me for thirteen years.” Sparky stripped to his briefs and put on his old robes. Sparky felt that his robes were a little tighter than he remembered but yet again he felt weird. He never thought he would wear the robes again. Within minutes of putting the robes on Sparky felt his connection to the force amplify. Sparky headed back to the cockpit. He sat back down into the seat, staring into the black void which was space. Sparky closed his eyes. He listened to the sounds of the engine, the beeping of the console, the stars of many galaxies exploding. He then reached out to the life force of the one he had sensed before. This time he can feel the connection… stronger then before.
Lessa and her crack squad of Jedi knights was being backed into a corner. There were too many Sith surrounding their position from all sides. Lessa was one with the force. As she held her lightsaber close to her chest in the Shi-Cho stance. A stance created by the Jedi Knights of the Old Republic. Only a few master that stance since it is over 10,000 years old. “Surrender Jedi… there is no where for you to go” barked one of the Sith. “You think we will surrender? We will die in the name of the force and the light. Even if we have to fight our way out”. The Sith retorted “Then so be it… great Jedi.” The Sth raised his hand and shot a lightening bolt through Lessa. She screamed in pain. It felt like someone was ripping every molecule apart. The Sith stopped. “Look at you… call yourself a Jedi? Your pathetic.” Lessa was on the ground still trying to stand up. She was grabbing the air as to try and hold herself up. “Time to meet your demise… pathetic Jedi!” The Sith raised his hand to fire the bolt. Just as he fired the bolt, a hooded figure jumped in front with a green bladed lightsaber and deflected the lightening bolt. The Sith fell to the ground. Lessa could not see who it was. She was still recovering from the last bolt. A familiar voice shouted “Nobody lays a finger on her. Those who try will have to go through me.” Lessa recognised the voice from somewhere… in the distant past. Could it be? No he was exiled… that day. The day that the force had never felt so cold. The day she lost the one she loved. In the haze she could see the figure fighting with the Jedi Knights. Slashing and using the force in unity. Defending her to the last Sith who stood. As the last Sith fell, the deed was done. “Are you ok?” the hooded figure said. Lessa tried to stand but she was too weak. “Don’t move Lessa, stay very still.” Suddenly Lessa felt the warm glow of her recovery. The hooded figure was healing her with the force. After a minute, Lessa stood and saw her eyes come into focus. She saw Sparky in his old but tattered Jedi Robes. “Sparky? What? How…” Lessa stumbled over her words. “Well hello Sparky…How are you? I love you?” Sparky taunted. Lessa slapped Sparky round the face. “You filthy scruffy looking nerf-hearder…” Lessa screamed. “Why did you come back? You turned your back on us the day you turned your back on everything you once believed...” Sparky fell silent for a moment. He paced back and forth in front of Lessa. “Well what is it Sparky? Come to bring shame back to the order? Hurt me some more…” “No… I am here to aid the order. I am asking for redemption. I understand that I brought a lot of pain and I am lost. A lost and failed Jedi… By the Jedi order you can strike me where I stand… So what’s my fate Lessa? Death or will you help me?”
