I tell you what i have had a hell of a problem with this new machine

Core duo E6250 2.3 1333FSB
2x1GB Ram PC 6400 800FSB
Asus MB
600watt Arctic PSU.

used old SATA HDD

seems immensly unstable? cant install vista it just BSODs.. cant install XP that just seems to lock up during install..

tried another HDD, removing 1 stick of RAM (apparenlty dual channel isnt always popular on vista installs)
tried changing IDE cable on hard drive sata ribbon

dunno what else to try

Good for alot of thinsg Macs but by far not be and end all..

Plus teh way mac people at my college were id rather not get one seeing the sort of people it turns them into

So you might wanna get an antidote for that bug lol!!

Trust me

Mac fans are more persitant on hating all things MS and dont mind the wool being pulled over their own eyes.

If I was doing alot of photo work and just basic office stuff yeah id consider one..

After that considering ill be doing work on it.. and connecting to the network a Mac would be useless. They dont cut it in business environment

Why do you persist with bashing Mac OS X? Although it's true that most Mac users don't 'enjoy' Windows-operated computers, most Windows users don't like Macs because they have never used it or used it for a total of 5 minutes while walking past some Apple store in the mall.

I used a computer with Windows on it for years, and if I switched then obviously there was something more that I wanted and Mac OS X could provide.

The big point that most people don't like with 'the Mac', is that of it's game supportability. Now with EA games coming in and making an agreement to sign on with Apple (and then EA taking control of VG Holding for $860 million, which has BioWare Corp. and Pandemic Studios under it's control to make EA even stronger), and Bungie leaving Microsoft, then there's something interesting going on. Apple may actually surpass Microsoft in every aspect computer-wise (like it's already doing).

Another thing is that Windows users also see Macs as they were back in Mac OS 8 and 9. They have improved so much since the release of Mac OS X that I don't even know where to start.

I'm sure my MacPro (http://www.apple.com/macpro/ ) is a real piece of crap machine.

mels right, macs have strengths in alot of places, but be realistic, everything u can download, install, use or attach is always primarily made for windows. makers are getting much more mac friendly, its true, but theres a good 2 times more stuff out there for windows than mac.

now back to ur problem mel. is ur computer built by u, or is it made by a manufacturer?

I wasnt bashing it I was merely pointing out that it wasnt at all any use to me.

And yes I am refering to OX10.. I already said I think Macs are great for certain things. Although I have found them lacking in what I want for everything.

Mac users cannot accept that.. all I was saying was I dont wish to spend my money on something which will be inadequate to my needs. But Macintosh users will not accept that when they question me and get precious... I have had access to alot of those system including Linux asll.. I just find windows to have caused me teh least heac ache not to mention it runs my business systems..

The mac users/ fan base at college came across as very pretentious about the whole thing Apple. It annoys me since alot of what they were saying is hypocritical.

In corportae business they cannot compete which links into my reasoning for buying as ill be linking to work aswell.. However I am sure Chantelle will fill u in better than me as she is much more the expert..

It is good that maybe opening game support will help.. HOpefully more of EAs normal titles

EA sports games are scandelous..
__________

back to problem:

The computer is built by me lol, I think I sorted it out

The problem was I believe down to a loose connection in the 20+4 pin from the power supply... seems to work now..I also ran the installation without 1 of the channels of RAM so it was single channel

Melissa dont get me involved lol

He tossed you a massive juicy bait and you bit..

Actually I wouldnt mind a mac mini for like just a small down stairs machine.. Thing is I dont really need one so cannot bring myself to spend the money. But they look smart and are good for pow level jobs and tasks..

http://www.apple.com/macpro/ <<< Nice cheese grater

But seriously Normal PCs and Macs are the same hardware..

I tend to build my own PCs and put in what I want and dont pay for what I dont want... just DONT LET MELISSA BUILD IT!! lol

It seems to be okay now, working fine and steady as a rock, all setup on vista and working fine

I think it was just teh arkwardness of the 4pin next to the 20pin power plug from the PSU not in correct probably causing a slight drop or lack of power..
