Is it possible to hide my computer / connection in a local network without access to the router? Or atleast make me impossible to block / ban...
-Thanks

Using a software firewall is the easiest option. Although obviously if you are connected to a router for your internet connection which I assume you obviously are, its pretty much impossible to hide your connection to the router. It is however possible to hide your computer- as mentioned above the easiest way is to use a software firewall.

Are you talkinga bout blocking getting blocked internally or externally?
If via the net your IP which gets blocked is from your router.. so your router gets block..
All your router does is proxy in essence between your computer and your internal network.
As for internally well... your router or hub whatever your using is going to provide your machine and others with IP information on the same subnet since its going to be the DHCP and DNS server.. assuming your part of the local network I dont get why it would hide you.. a firewall as Andy said would certainly prevent access and could prevent ping.. although your internal non routable IP address (inside the network) would be obtainable if they tried to ping your computer name as DNS would resolve it to your machine name.

I think hes looking for a way to not get banned from things.

Hmm... I am simply trying to make it impossible to get banned / blocked from the router administrator... thingey. The one that controlls what the router gets to play, do, etc.
My own router got its own "IP" where i can login and configure stuff.
Also, where can i get a firewall software?

your going to have to elaborate on your current state of play as its obscure and I cannot draw up a diagram of your dilemma
when ever you connect via a router to anything whether another subnet work local or wan or internet your router is the gateway between that.. in the internet instance, if your ip gets banned (internet IP ) address gets banned then nothing will be sent through that router.
Or are you trying to steal internet illegally?

What your looking for is a proxy server not a firewall- its a completely different thing. I'm not going to explain to you how this is possible because I don't want to be the one responsible for you getting your internet connection taken away. With the majority of schools, if you are caught to be purposely avoiding the school policies then they will remove your access without a word.

well what's stopping them just banning the proxy server..
At the end of the day if something like web marshal is active they could trace it back to that anyway and ban it...
If thats a client on the network DOMAIN.. its possible they could take over that machine and find you!!
A domain administrator can log onto any machine in the domain without local permissions..

Nothing is stopping them banning the proxy server. But this is a school we are talking about, not a business. They hardly have people dedicated to monitoring network activity 24/7. Our school system has been pronounced "fool-proof" although me and a mate have worked out how to get around their blocking system using a combination of programs and proxys- theres always a means and a way. But either way, if you are caught you WILL get in trouble and most likely use your network access, its almost impossible to get away with it and hide your tracks at the same time.

Ok, is there a way to ... reduce the change they will notice me when i logon gaming networks? (they can see the IP's / Hosts i am at)

well if your going via their severs.. doesnt matter what you do..
their gatewat to the net might log everything
your connection would just be a pawn or a clientlike everything else
Their level is at a higher level of administration
this is like Sythes problem

There is a difference..
I can do all the stuff i can do at home. There are no restrictions; but when they DO notice i am playing, they shut me off. The only ''advantage'' they got is that they got the password for the router. I think.

well its up to them... thing is them noticing you already and temp banning you is being lenient..
assuming there are proper administrators in place.. you could be banned altogether
ther fact its at school they will have a compyter gateway proxy onto their router
fact is.. eitehr the admins are lenient , dumb or they just have not taken action
either way.. they have considerable more power than you think.. i mean if they really really wanted to.. they could shut you off for good.
