How optimistic O_o

And thats not true anyway, you obviously just had a bad experience.

There are plenty of successful bands out there and it hasnt ruined their lives

I was actually going to say exactly that, but I decided it wasn't worth it.

Well. It's simple.

T = Total number of bands.
A = Arseholes who get record deals.
R = Making it and non-making it ratio

T / A = R

Let's say, theirs 5,000,000,000 bands in the world.
Theirs 1,000,000 bands who are sponsored.
So for every sponsored band, theirs 5,000 unsponsored bands.

Great odds?
Only about 7,000,000,000 people on planet Earth.

What makes you so special?

Hate to be harsh, but unless you know the right people and your kissing their ass, theirs no chance in the depths of hell.

You spend your youth trying to "make it," when theirs so many other productive things you could be doing.

Bands are meant for hobbies, not careers :(

sad but true. I agree on that but jeez if thats what someones good at why not doing it??? The only way to achieve something in ur life is to following one path for that thing and doing ur best. Its an hard commitment but i think it is worth it ..especially if making band is ur number 1 dream

I shouldn't be talking, as I'm only 14.
I probably will never stop trying with music, but I just hate the world.
Bite me :)

I follow many different paths. I can be successful in most work environments and/or jobs because of it. This way, I don't really end broken hearted when my dream fails.

Darfin; I can really see where you're coming from, but I do hope that one band from the few that 'make it' will be GOOD.

Under bro listen to me. statics like those can used to prove whatever point the want. If YOU think YOU can make it then go for it. i went through the same exact thing wheni was younger and im not doing music for a career BUT i have made ateals 2K over time if you add up all of the shows. now it was jsut me so i didnt have to split it but $50-200 every now and then starts to add up. if you love to play music then do it. i hate peoplethat go around saying "ohhh pfff youll never make it blah blah blah" when they dont know the FIRST thing aobut an insturment muchless a band enviroment so taker look. if you think you can then go for and if it doesnt work out oh, atleast you tried.
