Howdy.
I'm updating the server's operating system to a newer version of Ubuntu.
This will take several hours and at time will take the server off-line.
So read this before complaining about the server being down :P

Note to anyone upgrading to Ubuntu Noble.: -
It changed the definition of the Ethernet card so the machine lost access to the Internet. I used the VNC provided by our server host (as opposed to putty), logged in as root, got the new network card identifier via "lshw -C network" (resolving to enX0). I attempted to activate it via "ip link set enX0 up" with no joy. So I got desperate and edited the ethernet card definition file "nano /etc/netplan/01-netcfg.yaml" and changed the existing (and typical) alias of eth0 to enX0 - which is a very scary thing to do - millimeters away from a complete wipe and reinstall. But luckily my tongue was at the correct angle and everything came good. But I am on tenterhooks...!
