On this Hour, on this Day, on this month, the guns stopped firing in 1918, 100 years ago. As this is remembrance day, I chose to remember my Grandad Rock. Lest we forget.

We shouldn't forget. It was a largely pointless war of needless bloodshed and if we mind our history, our generation won't suffer the same fate. People like your Grandad Rock won't have to sacrifice the way he did.

My Grandad Stanley Rock was a Paratrooper in WW2. He survived the war, but came out with around 2 or 3 bullet wounds in the process. He fought, but he took. One of the things he did was take his fallen friend's dog tags and take their wages before giving them in.

Your grandfather helped America survive and win. I can't expect more out of someone who volunteered their service to the greatest country in the world. Hopefully we'll all live to be half the man he was.

Ah, my bad. Doesn't change the accomplishment, though. Doughboy or not, he's a hero.
