Has anyone played/liked Quake III Arena? I've been considering making a couple of mods for JKA regarding that game, but I'd like to check and see how many in our little community actually liked and/or played that game first.
(If you don't know, Jedi Outcast/Academy runs on Quake III's engine. More about the game itself here

Back in the day my brother made a couple of mods for Q3, including one where you played football while rocket launcher-ing your opponents. If there's any way to incorporate that into your project I would be totally on board lol.

I've heard of this game before, and have seen gameplay. Always willing to look at mods and stuff, so I'd be happy to see some!

Used to play Unreal Tournament (1999) a lot and enjoyed that, but the only Quake game I've played was Enemy Territory. If Quake III Arena is similar to UT I might be interested.

even after looking at gameplay videos i'm totally undecided, although if i'd gotten this prior to jka i would probably have considered giving it a shot, but i could only tell if i actually tried this out, just for anyone who hasn't seen gameplay and needs to try decide, watch this:

So I have a brother that's 9 years older than me that introduced me to a lot of games earlier than my parents probably would've liked. Quake III was one of them, and ended up being a big part of my pre-teen even into teen years. It was my first multiplayer game ever and had a huge impact on me as a kid. In my opinion, its still one of the best/most fun first-person shooters ever made.
Point is - if you like first-person shooters (and don't mind a bit of animated gore every now and then) you'll really like this game. They used to have a free version of it called Quake Live but it appears it's now Steam-only and available for $10. $15 if you plan to buy the original game. Not sure what the extra $5 gets you though...
*Edit* nvm
