iPod has crappy quality. I don't get why people like them so much. Theyre way too expensive for what you get. I suppose its just because of the Apple name.

ive got an 80gb ipod a creative microphoto 8gb and a creative zen vision: m 30 gb and i have to say i prefer the vision:m by far, you dont have to convert the videos to .mov like you have to for the ipod because it supports the most standart types of videos, it has radio (which you can record), it works like a voice recorder it has a lot of options the ipod doesnt have that are small things but make it really nice compared to the ipod and it doesnt scrash as much :P

Get one from the Creative brand.
If you want one with a nice view screen and video and pictures and all of that, get the Creative Zen Plus.
If you want just a normal MP3, pretty much built for convienency and portability, get the Creative MuVo...or anything from that line.

Darfin, as much as you have the right to have your opinion. I think you are pretty much summed up as an 'iPod hater' which is a common name around the net on many sites refering to mp3 players. I don't know firstly how you can say they are crap, because if they were, they wouldn't sell. Secondly, both my Dad (40GB Video) and my sister (3GB Nano- I believe) have an Ipod. Both of their iPods have worked flawlessly. Now Darfin, you find me an mp3 player that is even close to what an iPod can offer in terms of features for a lower price. Yea sure, you will find the odd one or two, but im talking about anymore then that. Im sure you will find that there are not that many mp3/hard-disk players competing on the market, this is why the iPod is so successful.

Converting is one thing that i don't like the idea of. Apple People seem to think that is okay yet if it was Microsoft they would moan.

I think Apples great marketing and quick thinking has solidified their position, very comparible to microsoft really and just like Windows and the iPod many will argue that there are much better alternatives out here for you. Linux Mac etc.. At the end of teh day it all depends on whats ight for you and what you want. Yes there are systems out there that do alot of things far better than windows. yet for alot of people windows does what the others cannot do. I think the same applies to iPod.. if i were to get a new mp3 player now i would certainly look at the iPod but would probably choose another.

I have to be honest I think alot of Mp3 players would have same/more features for a lesser price. But its alot closer these days.

One thing however..... the iPhone... that does not impress me whatsoever. Unless its free on a contract deal or at least a reasonable price I cannot see why you'd wanna get that, You could get a great top phone free and a sound mp3 player for cheaper. Plus you got to consider the build and overall usability and stuff.

However its a case of some people prasie all things apple.. I perfer to take or try to take a less biased and more practicallity view of things.

Apple are just well known and everyone knows/thinks they are reliable. I do think iPod's are overrated but are worth it for what you get, I personally don't like them, I don't have anything against them but I duno... I just don't like them and not going to buy one for a long time (probably)
