(sorry bout the size, pic was taken on my phone)

my guess is that its an old pub that they bought.
Has anyone else seen weird Macdonalds or is it just us south westerners (if thats actually a word) XD

Well, with corporations like McDonalds, they don't run each individual store. It's usually a person who finds a location, asks for permission to set up part of the franchise, and the company will buy the grills, food, etc... needed to start the business if they see it as a likely source of income. So if the person requesting has a strange location like an old pub, renovated warehouse, etc... chances are they can still turn it into part of the franchise as long as they can hook the higher-ups into thinking it's a good investment. I haven't seen any weird ones like that lately, though. Most companies can afford to tear down the buildings entirely and build a common model store in the lot now-a-days.

I used to actually work in mc'ds a long time anon sad to admit but it be true and well to the point of this post as fitting to the time of year once passed.

On christmas eve the store manager got some christmas spirit and decided to close early so it was up to me and him to stop the traffic coming through our drive thru lane. And well we got this one family come trhough and ask if we would be closed on christmas day... unsuprisingly we said yes we would be closed til after boxing day and well... to our shock the couple asked "Well where are we meant to get the kids their christmas dinner?" . I wish I could say I was making this up but yes there be people that strange in the world.

I realise this is completly off topic but well I thought I would share :P

Yea Tricky I know about franchises and everything as im studying business at school, but normally people make their store red and yellow and normally the stores are situated in town centers or industrial parks although this one stood out because it was in the middle of nowhere and the owners had made no effort to make it look anything like the typically classified Macdonalds. If it hadnt been for the logo and Macdonalds written down the side you would have no idea it was macdonalds.

lol, the other day just after i posted this i was out with my dad and we saw a burger king that looked like a 15th century church O_o. i tried to get photo but we were too far off and you could only really see it over the top of some other buildings.

Places like Stratford and Chester are all oldy woldy buildings and however to be honest still have the red and yellow shop facias so no I havn't seen anything quite like that.

It is slightly odd, I agree it looks like some old pub.

Id be curious to see if it was actually selling? Unless they were in th process of fitting out the internals.

The only other thing was that if its a listed building they cannot alter the aesthetics of teh building. Still looks odd.

yeh, when we first saaw it we were confused if anything, thoughts of 'what the hell is that' when we saw the logo on the side of the building.
It must have been on the market cheaply and McDonalds needed a building in the area, that would be my guess.

I don't particularly like mcdonalds but when ur on a highway, out of gas and are starving, and mcdonalds is the only thing in sight on the barren landscape....You go to mcdonalds for a burger to sqeeze into ur gas tank and some ketchup to put on ur spare tire, mabey the sole of ur shoes too, choppes into fries and cooked with a lighter, and some antifreeze for ur drink

P.S. antifreeze, animals like it why not me? Sure its toxic but if ur outta gas on a highway in the middle of nowhere, why should u even care?

i have to admit i do like good proper cooked food;
Irish stew
Spag bol
Steak
Sunday Roast
etc. etc
but like frood said, if your out and about mcdonalds is perfect (for e anyway)
