Check out what is happening with the servers!

Hey guys,

RaVeN and I have been thinking of a way to get KR2 used more, because frankly it isn't used at all as it is. The TFFA team never used the server to its full potential. Therefore together we have thought up an alternative use for the server which we hope you will all like.

Introducing the -[KR]- SafeHaven:

What will the server be used for? Who will use it?
From now on the server will be used for, but not limited too: Escaping from the hassle of KR1, chilling out, training, trials and admin school. Why? Well some of the reasons are listed below:

1. Conducting a trial on KR1 can be a trial in its own right with how many members and none members want to watch/interrupt/comment on it.

2. As mentioned above KR SafeHaven can be used to escape the hassle of KR1, I know of a few members who leave when the server gets busy so this will be a good alternative. The server will also be strictly KR members only, that combined with the excellent map, will give a more relaxed atmosphere for members to enjoy.

3. It also introduces the new players to the server. I'm sure that some of our newer members haven't even heard of KR2, let alone played on it.

4. The map used on the server, although small, does offer some challenging terrain for training and would be perfect for a Master and 2 Padawans without being cramped in a tiny corner on KR1.

5. Admin levels are the same on KR2 as KR1, therefore admin trials and school and trials can be conducted on the server.
-----------------------------------------------------------

Some important information you should know:
The server is running the latest version of JA+ (2.4 beta 3). The reasons for this are to experiment with the new version of the mod (it can be changed back to the version used on KR1 if nescessary).

Advantages of the new JA+:

- Alternative dimension, separate from the main dimension, idea for trials and of the like.

- Enhanced Jedi vs Merc. Those that have been empowered are able to use force on others with empower.

- Grapple can be cut with saber throw or an explosion (rocket, det pack, grenade etc). Grapple also now has a fuel system, meaning it runs out like jetpack (can be turned off, once again we are trying it out).

- /clansay command has been added. Meaning typing "/clansay Hi" in the console would send a message to anyone logged into clanpass.

- Using /kill in duels now gives a point to the opponant.

There are a few more changes, but those are the main (noticeable) ones.

Disadvantages of the new JA+: There are not many disadvantages to the new JA+, but the main one everyone complains about is the fact that both the commands amslay and ampunish have been removed from the mod. Although to be honest these commands are amoung the most common abused, so I suppose its not such a disadvantage.
Server name: -[KR]- SafeHaven

IP Address: 72.5.248.114

JA+ Version: v2.4 beta 3 (latest)

Number of slots: 16

Default map (required): Arrevanous7.

Password protected: Yes (the pass is the one we normally use, you should know it). Catch me on msn or via PM if you have a bad memory ;)
I think thats about it guys. I thank you for reading and I urge you to check this out because we really want it to be for the better. Feel free to comment.

P.S: Sections of this post are RaVeN's words as well as my own, as I mentioned above, Raven and I worked together to get this up and running :).

Regards,

RaVeN, myself and the KR Council.

Delev its one map. Do us a favour and put in just a little bit of effort. Sorry if i'm a little strong, but when i've spent time doing something, and someone dismisses it as "just another map they have to download" which is the impression I got from your post, then I just get a little annoyed. If you don't want to play on the server, don't no-one is making you download the map or play on the server. After all its supposed to be an idea, you will benefit from.

Sorry guys, I didn't realise that the link to that file is compressed in a .rar format which requires the program WinRAR to extract, which most people don't have. I have uploaded a .zip format to my old site. The link to download is as follows, sorry about the hassle:

ok i finally got the map to work 8) . and why does safehaven have a grapple limit?

 #17862  by Starcomand

thats the ja+ mod

 #17863  by Phoenix

Thats the new JA+ mod. It can be disabled, but as i've mentioned we are trying out the new mod :), hopefully for the better.

Also an important update.

Arrevanous7, the default map on the server we have since found out suffers from serious FPS problems. Its strange because if either RaVeN or I go on the server, our FPS ranges from 70-90 on average. Yet other people have reported getting FPS around 1-20 which is impossible to do anything because the lag isn't bareable. This means KR SafeHaven is not able to forefill its purpose therefore RaVeN and myself are in the process of finding an alternative map that would equally provide the same features as Arrevanous7. If anyone has any sensible suggestions, please put them forward, please don't say something like Sith Council or of the like, we are looking for an alternative not a complete replacement.

Thankies,

Pho~

hmmm, kr members only? maybe some kr friends can get in too, i meen i know about "kr-only stuff" but some x-members might be suffering from the same annoyance of KR1, i meen, im speak for veterans-x-members, not just anyone whos been one KR1 long enuf to get annoyed. obviously you havent seen me on any JA server ina while, but i think there could be some exeptions made.

just my 2 cents.

ya wanderer is right, so we start at a fee of 1000 dollars a day, and cough!

Ok so far these are the ones being considered. As I said above, we are looking for a alternative not a replacement.

Ones being considered at the moment in order of priority:

http://jediknight2.filefront.com/file/The_Enclave;80479
http://jediknight2.filefront.com/file/Y ... demy;26239
http://jediknight2.filefront.com/file/M ... mple;54588
http://jediknight2.filefront.com/file/T ... on_2;73897
http://jediknight2.filefront.com/file/T ... tion;30644

I will be testing all these maps at somepoint today, but so far I have my sights set on "The Enclave" and "Yavin Elite Academy".
I dismissed Jedi Temple from the list purely because it is too big, and is very much like Sith Council, Jedis Home etc. Which if you remember quoted from above:
Phoenix wrote:If anyone has any sensible suggestions, please put them forward, please don't say something like Sith Council or of the like, we are looking for an alternative not a complete replacement.
And Wand in answer to your question, I have considered what you have said, although SafeHaven will still remain strictly KR members only. It can be treated as a benefit of being a clan member, if you want to call it that.
