Hello!

I’d like to inquire why I was banned, but I believe it’s a result of running a vpn. I know this isn’t allowed on the server. I have been using my vpn service while traveling for work with public wifi. I have seen “banned” pop up when its running in the past, but this time upon turning it off and rejoining the ban remained.

I spoke with Sakito on the server about this briefly the day it happened via phone hotspot.

As noted you're not banned, but the VPN you chose to use is. We don't specifically ban VPNs on purpose, but after 20 years of being online any connection which is abused will be banned, so you could guess by now almost all VPNs have been poisoned by undesirables. I have manually overwritten the firewall on occasion when I see it hit you, but it is an automated process. Combined with the fact that after the firewall hits a proxy you use you then attempt another, and then another - essentially screaming at the firewall saying "I'm exactly the kind of person you were put here to stop!". In case you hadn't noticed the firewall is self-learning and will trace back connections and build rules specifically against anyone who aggressively attempts to bypass it.

So having said, I'll raise them when I see them - but you really are playing a game of whack-a-mole against a defense system!
