So.... I am a nurse, and I work 12.5 hours shifts. I have done days (7am-7:30pm) and night shifts (7pm-7:30am). I have to say, and be honest about this. I think Day shifts are rougher, but when I sleep at night I feel so much rested the next day. On the contrary night shifts are much more peaceful. They are quite, less of a workload, but if I sleep during the day, even if I sleep more hours than at night, I feel so much less rested that sometimes I feel very fatigued during the night. I can say out of experience that I just prefer day shift, and can handle my body much better with the night time sleep and the higher workload. I just finished working three nights in a row, and I feel like a zombie right now.

Anyone would like to give me his/her perspective on this? What shift you usually work, what shift you have worked in the past, and what your preference is and why? Let me know. 11

I haven't had to do shifts before, but one of my good friends recently had to work mid-shift a bunch during the pandemic and hated it

I used to work nights at a hotel. I really enjoy being up at night, but yeah, sleeping during the day is a chore. It'll certainly take a couple weeks to really get the hang of it, but it can still take a toll on your mental health if you feel like you're missing out on getting to hang out with friends and family. You're doing something great by being there for others in the way that you are, just make sure you're taking care of yourself too!

I also suffer from that. I love being awake at night. Things are so quiet. I love it! However sleeping during the day has always been such a hassle. =(
