Writing this because we have several members that use Mac computers and have problems connecting to certain servers (KR2 being one of them).

So from here:

If you downloaded Jedi Academy from Steam or the Mac App Store, chances are you can't join any servers because of this:

The only way to get around this is to do one of the two following things.

JKJALaunch
This is a new launcher app that allows you to join servers. It also supports command line options, and the option to specify a custom master server.

Download from the above link, and put it in your Applications folder, or anywhere that's convenient. Hold shift and double click it. You'll get a window like this:

Locate your JKA app. If it's the Steam version, it should be in the following directory:
Code: Select all
Macintosh HD/Users/you/Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps/common/Jedi Academy/JKJA.app
If it's the app store version, it should be in your Applications folder:
Code: Select all
/Applications/Jedi Academy.app
Click okay and then choose Multiplayer.

Join a server and all should be well!

OpenJK
The other good option is to use OpenJK, an open source project that contains lots of bug fixes, and allows you to connect to servers on Mac. Click the above link and follow that tutorial to install it.

Many thanks to Circa from JKHub for writing this, and to Fluffy for being my guinea pig in testing this :)

If any of the above links break let me know. I have a copy of the Launcher on my PC.

So an error I get sometimes while trying to join the server is this one:

"Not a JPEG file: starts with 0x4d 0x00"

The 8 digit number changes each time. The error occurs right as I'm almost 100% to joining the server, then the game crashes.

Any idea on what could be causing this?

Obligatory late reply..

If OpenJK doesn't work (we use an updated JPEG loader) then it's a broken mod. Remove PK3s until you find the culprit :P

I tried 2 programs and failed to use both..... (facepalm)
JKJALaunch says after choosing Multiplayer

"Check with the developer to make sure Jedi Academy MP works with this version of OS X. You may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install any available updates for the application and OS X.

Click Report to see more detailed information and send a report to Apple."

My OS X version is El Capitan (10.11.4)

For second one (OpenJK). When I run SDL2 framework it said

MacBook-Air-Rostyslav:~ ross$ /Library/Frameworks/SDL2.framework/Versions/A/SDL2 ; exit;
-bash: /Library/Frameworks/SDL2.framework/Versions/A/SDL2: cannot execute binary file
logout
Saving session...
...copying shared history...
...saving history...truncating history files...
...completed.

[Process completed]

and when I launch OpenJK

Check with the developer to make sure openjk.x86_64 works with this version of OS X. You may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install any available updates for the application and OS X.

So I conclude that my problem is my version of OS X if I am not mistaken.
Please if anyone knows how to fix it reply to this, thanks!

maybe there is the way to get all the files needed to all big servers? because the problems is that the game is trying to download the files form the server but it can't...
